Shack Posted July 8, 2024 Posted July 8, 2024 My Crystal shuts down after only several minutes of being activated. Connections all show green in the Pimax app and the battery well charged. Anyone else experiencing this ? I did get a new computer and have adjusted the USB power saving to disabled ... oCMANo Posted July 8, 2024 Posted July 8, 2024 (edited) Does it shutdown while your playing or only when it's started, but no game is playing? Mine will shutdown the screens after about 5 minutes, but stays connected, if I don't start any games. Shack Posted July 9, 2024 Author Posted July 9, 2024 Same. Even with no games playing it’ll stay powered for 2-3 min and shut down. Weird. Calvin.Pimax Posted July 9, 2024 Posted July 9, 2024 Hi there! Are you currently using the powered hub? If so, we recommend trying to connect the cables directly to your PC to see if that resolves the issue. Still having trouble? Double-check the DP extension cable for any loose connections.
Shack Posted July 9, 2024 Author Posted July 9, 2024 (edited) Thanks. I did try the cables directly unto the computer as well as check the HDMI cable. I also connected a USB C cable to the right side of the Headset but it apparently has not helped. I'll try these again and advise. would open XR , etc have any impact ? The crystal shuts down before any games are started. I only fly DCS and MSFS2020 ( the Steam version ) Edited July 9, 2024 by Shack Intel i9 14900K @5.5 MHz, 64GB DDR 5 RAM at 6000 MHz, RTX4090, Pimax Crystal HMD, HOTAS: Winwing F16EX / Orion 2 Throttle base / Top Gun MIP / F-16 ICP setup. Calvin.Pimax Posted July 10, 2024 Posted July 10, 2024 Nope, it has nothing to do with OpenXR. If that's the case, the last thing you might want to try is the DP extension on the left side. Remove the gasket and pull out the DP extension, then connect the DP cable directly into the headset. I suspect it might be a loose connection or a faulty extension.

Calvin.Pimax Posted July 30, 2024 Posted July 30, 2024 Hey Shack, I suggest filing a support ticket so our tech support can check if the battery and cable are working properly. If the headset shuts down after 2-3 minutes, it might be a hardware issue. Also, if you're using a hub to connect the headset, try connecting it directly to the motherboard instead.

I filled out a support ticket at Pimax. I dont think this is a connection issue as it shuts off intermittently - sometimes it stays connected throughout a gaming session and at other times, it just disconnects - all with good battery power. Calvin.Pimax Posted July 31, 2024 Posted July 31, 2024 I’d recommend waiting for tech support to diagnose your setup and headset. They’ll be able to identify the root cause and provide further assistance. Personally, I doubt it’s the cable or extender.

I apologize for not having expanded - I selfishly launched into missed DCS flying. My connections from / to the HUB were not set correct. This video made it very clear for me. 1 Intel i9 14900K @5.5 MHz, 64GB DDR 5 RAM at 6000 MHz, RTX4090, Pimax Crystal HMD, HOTAS: Winwing F16EX / Orion 2 Throttle base / Top Gun MIP / F-16 ICP setup. Hillman Posted April 10 Posted April 10 Hi, I have a similar problem with my Crystal Light. (It might happened after playing for approx 45 minutes or much sooner). Seems like some power-saving or something, but I cannot find any setting in the software for this. I have tried both connecting the usb-b directly to the motherboard and to a powered usb-hub. Pressing the power-button on the HDM (most forward, right button) seems to be the only way to get picture&sound back again. Very annoying in the heat of the battle!
