Unfortunately, the idea is not good, it obscures the map. Alternatively, maybe add a new function in the map options - on/off countries? Now it doesn't look nice, at least to me.

If that text can be made to respect the "Geo names" map option, that should be cover it, but I won't complain if they add a separate toggle or remove it entirely.
