Silvester.E Posted July 14, 2024 Posted July 14, 2024 (edited) Hi, My wish and hope is that the Iraq map will be made on the old way like Marinnas, Nevada, Sinai and Syria. Hope the terrain textures will not be like SA, Kola and Afghanistan. I understand and respect when other people like the more MSFS, FS2004, BMS global scenery, i just don’t. The problem i am having with this new technology is that there is no depth low level. Been to Iraq and Afghanistan myself during deployments and i can tell you there is hardly flat terrain even if it’s just a difference between 1/2 meter. Yes, from high up it all looks great, but low level this scenery becomes flat and there is no depth anymore. Amazing 10 seconds later Edited July 14, 2024 by Silvester.E 10 3
stburr91 Posted July 14, 2024 Posted July 14, 2024 Are these pictures in the areas that are not detailed yet? If what is in these pictures are the final product, I just can't see myself paying money for something like this. 1

Gierasimov Posted October 21, 2024 Posted October 21, 2024 I think this "new terrain tech" ED is marketing lately is the outcome of work for the DCS Earth project. This is going to be the "new" DCS. Larger maps are only possible by doing this kind of scenery tricks, so that it is profitable. I don't like it, I wish Marianas was the "new tech" but I also understand it is unrealistic to expect that level of detail in terrains that span such a large areas. I was very disappointed with DCS Afghanistan when flying COIN missions in DCS AH-64D module, I switched to Hornet and Viper and the Afghanistan looks great at high altitudes when doing A/A or stand off weapons deployment. 1 Intel i7-13700KF :: ROG STRIX Z790-A GAMING WIFI D4 :: Corsair Vengeance LPX 64GB :: MSI RTX 4080 Gaming X Trio :: VKB Gunfighter MK.III MCG Ultimate :: VPC MongoosT-50 CM3 :: non-VR :: single player :: open beta
shagrat Posted October 22, 2024 Posted October 22, 2024 We should wait for the finished product to judge "how it looks" and make assumptions on the "new DCS". Especially if judging of a heavily WIP early access product. 1 Shagrat - Flying Sims since 1984 - Win 10 | i5 10600K@4.1GHz | 64GB | GeForce RTX 3090 - Asus VG34VQL1B | TrackIR5 | Simshaker & Jetseat | VPForce Rhino Base & VIRPIL T50 CM2 Stick on 200mm curved extension | VIRPIL T50 CM2 Throttle | VPC Rotor TCS Plus/Apache64 Grip | MFG Crosswind Rudder Pedals | WW Top Gun MIP | a hand made AHCP | 2x Elgato StreamDeck (Buttons galore)
