Lock On - No Keyboard Response

Every once in a while playing Lock On, my complete keyboard will become unresponsive. None of the keys will work on the keyboard until I alt-tab out of LO, then back in. Sucks pretty bad when engaged.:surprise:

 

I think it may have to do with pressing too many buttons at once, or a certain key combination on my HOTAS. Anyone have any ideas why this happens or how to avoid it?

Maybe Windows takes over focus? It is same with Black Shark in main menu. Windows takes focus and you have to ALT-TAB and back to game to set focus on game.

I don't know why it happens but I get this too. As an example I had wheel brakes set to bands on my rudder pedals and when I would press the brake the keyboard wouldnt respond. If I let go of the brake then it worked. I think it has to do with not liking certain combinations or maybe its an issue with SST/Programming soft.

 

The latter makes sense if you program a stick thru SST or eq. its basically a keyboard encoder at that point and too LOMAC may only like one keyboard command at a time.

I am using full screen mode. If windows is losing focus on Lock On then I would think that my game would not be visible anymore and I would go to the desktop instead. Maybe Bob you are right however, and Windows loses focus in terms of the keyboard, interesting. Now I'll just have to figure a away to stop this annoying behaviour. In the few years I have played Lock On this is always happened to me and now it seems more frequent. I hope to get some kind of fix!

Are U using sticky keys?!! (holding Shift, Alt or Ctrl for more than a 3 secs turns programmed functions on).

 

Are U using standard plug and play qwerty keyboard or some programmable (like Logitech G-xx) that has different profiles?! Is it a wireless keyboard, perhaps it loses power or link to receiver and goes berserk. I had similar issues with laser mouse, it used to freeze and lock view in some strange position when ihad internal views controlled by mouse movement!

I definitely have sticky key turned off. I am using a CH Pro Throttle and Fighter Stick. I will get this problem without touching the keyboard, and only using my throttle and stick which I have programmed to send keyboard commands. There is something Lock On does not like about the key presses I am sending with my throttle and stick.

After talking to RvE Yoda, I think Lock On bugs out when sending key combos like shift+; etc, especially if done rapidly. His suggestion is to remap actions to single key presses replacing key combos as much as possible. Seems like a lot of work :( I would have to remap all my CH gear. Bahhhhhhh!

It can be true - cos often when I chat via Ctrl-M I enable mirrors - I am sure I pressed both keys not same M key so it seems bug.

Yes Bob, I was getting that bug all the time. So I deleted the key assignments for mirrors as I use TIR.

Also it is worth to notice sometimes when fast I press chat menu and just before I leveled bank (by example pressing left arrow key) the plane is non controlable later - I mean something super uber strong trim is enabled and plane banks left that nothing can stop this. No any trims, reset trims, autopilot ect. And it equals crash of course. I am very frustrated then :D

Hm...not sure and I had the same problem. Then I changed the keyboard and the problem was gone...I don't think it has anything to do with LockOn and keyboard, but with Windows and keyboard.

Oh - so I see that a lot of people had similar problem. My problem is when I hit a lot of CTRL+M (often mixed with ALT+M) then I've got... I don't know exactly but my view is locked like some snapview or something (eg. I can't move my head). Long time I hadn't solution but now I've got :) Simply I need to repeat this strange combo by rapidly pressing CTRL+ALT+M+N (some of these keys match combo). In 99% works for me. Maybe somebody know about which combo I wrote so I woluld be able to turn off this...

I would love to see a solution to this problem Crunch, I have lost count the amount of times ive switched to guns only to see my canopy fly off, this for me is definately linked to the 'Ctrl' button being held for some reason. Only an Alt-Tab solves it.

 

Fortunately for some reason I haven't had it as much lately, I used to get it 7 or 8 flights out of 10.

Now, I can't recall the last time.

All i've done AFAIK is delete some unwanted keyboard commands in LO options.

Hm...not sure and I had the same problem. Then I changed the keyboard and the problem was gone...I don't think it has anything to do with LockOn and keyboard, but with Windows and keyboard.

No this problem is not with Windows. It is for sure with Lock On or else you wouldn't be able to alt+tab out :)

True...however, I could not Alt+Tab at all, so yes my problem was slightly different, sorry...

 

Btw, Crunch any news about mouse mapping in FC.

Does it work at all, or the axis mapping is just formal??
