I can run the game using the DCS-exe start, but the updater and the repair doesn't work'

How do I fix it?

can you run the DCS.EXE and then share the DCS.LOG? that will show the location of your DCS.

I have all the locations of the updaters (2), which hasn't altered since 2023. Removed and installed a new one. but it's still looking for the DCS exe in bin-mt. (My understanding).

My DCS exe is in, bin.

Can somebody tell me where their DCS-exe is located?

"C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World OpenBeta\bin\DCS_updater.exe"

look in your dcs.log will show you where the working DCS is located. and you can download the latest and put it in that folder.

i have one dcs_updater.exe as above. it too is from 2023.

I replaced the old updater exes with a new download and installed in DCSOB bin.

What I need to know now is, Is your DCS exe app, (the one with the black background) installed in bin or bin-mt.

Mine is in bin. This might not be the correct place.

Indeed. The multithread version is in bin-mt. There is a DCS.EXE in both of the folders. They are slightly different.

when i run the icon in my start menu, this is what is in the target value ["C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World OpenBeta\bin\DCS_updater.exe" update} this checks for updates and then opens multithread preview.

Of course! mt, multi thread, that's what was missing. My DCS crash had removed the DCS exe (2) and therefore the updater couldn't find it.

A repair was required, so I altered the start menu Repair shortcut to locate the updater and run a Repair.

Updater now works as it should.

As a bonus, I found that the single thread exe that I've had to use, works better on my old system.

Thanks for your help.

Great that you have things working again.  But in case you weren't aware, single thread is going to be discontinued at some point in the short(ish) term (I would have bet it would be gone by now, but they seem to still be working on some MT issues with newer systems so it's hanging on still) and even now there are bugs popping up in it which aren't being fixed likely for that reason.  I only mention that so you can plan for when that happens (especially since you mention you have an old system).

Good news: It now works perfectly smooth on Falklands with 1 core, dirt level and settings on high, with a 15 Y/O PC, when others are struggling with power rigs.

Bad news: On multi thread, I get stutter and worst of all rubber banding and they are replacing it with this.

Bad news. Thanks.
