Helmet display offset to left of line of sight

Hi, I am a Newbie but working hard to improve. Trying to perfect the helmet target designation routine and it's annoying that my helmet display is offset to the left instead of in front of the line of my nose. It means I have to look out of the corner of my eye to the left or right depending which of aircraft I am looking.

I saw a reference to this being able to be adjusted in special controls previously but currently cannot find this control on present version. I have tried Track IR changes but thats not the control I believe.

Basically I want the display centred in my line of sight if possible

I think it you go into settings and select the Special tab on some of the aircraft you can set it to left, right or both. I might be thinking of something different but sure it's the helmet display. Needs to be done in the settings from the main menu.

Sadly this remains unresolved. Surely I cannot be the only one with this offset as I dont have mods or messed up download its clean and new update

I agree with the OP. I fly in VR and I have the HMD set to render in only the right eye. Having said that, the targeting cross is rendered to the left-side of the lens, meaning you need to look out the side of your left eye to align it to your target. Doesn't seem quite right.

I am afraid the problem remains and whilst it is useable it's not ideal. I have tried the VR setting to move the view to left or right eye but it's still offset to the left. It would be so much better to have the reticule cantered to your centre of vision rather than the gymnastics that one currently has to do. I am sure the real pilot does not have this problem.

However I dont want to moan about what is a fantastic representation of this wonderful plane especially at the reasonable price for one days parking in central London Uk !!

I AM STILL WRESTLING WITH THIS !   I cannot believe that this is what is intended and surely others find it annoying to look out of the corner of your eye with such a sophisticated piece of equipment for a Target !

Hi that was quick reply and thank you for it.  The trouble is I am not sure where to look for a solution as I am not sure how Track Ir has an effect on this aspect of the setup but I am happy to be guided tp solve it. I will try and put a small track online here to demonstrate my issue . It will be just on the ground as I am not sure what you or how one edits the tracks and it could be longer if one gained altitude etc etc. It can be clearly seen relative to the cockpit frame position and the edge of the left hand cockpit .

In the Track IR software try adjusting the forward/aft sensibility by increasing its null/dead zone. This way, when you move your head to the side, it won't move forward so much it triggers the helmet display threshold. Try searching for some more tips from other users in the Hardware section:

Hi, I have solved this problem by chance : The standard Track IR head set is normally mounted on headphones. This means its to one side of the centre line in respect to the sensor cameras mounted on the top edge of the monitor as a usual set up. This means there is an offset between the two beams.

Normally we turn to the left when using HMD as the Flir has less masking effect due to Flir lens mount. If you look ou the right side of the cockpit the HMD reticule is pretty much in the centre of vision but not so on the left . It's skewed to the right and this means you have to glance out of the corner of your eye and try and place it over a moving target in the moving plane. Also the give away is the cockpit side is at an angle across your shoulder line.

Solution is to compensate for the offset by twisting the camera stalks with the top outwards and you will see the HMD reticule now centres and the cockpit rail in square to your body.
