I think there is something wrong with the Mode setting for the Rockeyes in Missions 9 and 10 (perhaps cluster and GP, in general).  I can't drop them in CCIP mode.  It keeps wanting to only do an CCRP drop.  I noticed it on Mission 9 but didn't give it much thought, but in Mission 10 I tried to drop on the secondary scud targets in CCIP mode and even when selecting CCIP as I am rolling in on the target it will not switch over to that mode.  I did the rearm/refuel screen for the Rockeyes while in the hangar leaving everything as is, just hitting OK and going on.  I set the Mode to CCIP, MFUZ to PRI, EFUZ to INST.  I could not set the burst height though.

This may not be a campaign issue, but an ED issue.  Just wanted to see if anyone else had the same problem.

System Specs:

AMD 5950X (liquid-cooled), Gigabyte Z590 Aorus Pro Motherboard, 32 GB RAM DDR4 3200MHz, Samsung Evo 970 Plus 2 TB, Seagate 2TB SSD, Geforce RTX 4080 GPU, Rosewill Glacier 1000W Power Supply, Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS (Stick, Throttle), Thrustmaster TPR Rudder Pedals, NaturalPoint TrackIR 5 w/ProClip, (1) Vizio 40" 4K Monitor, TPLink Dual Band Wireless Card, Window 11 OS

Don't think you can change burst height now in cockpit, that's set via the fuse.  As for no CCIP, not sure on that, hopefully somebody in the know can throw their thoughts in.

I just looked at another post where Rogersim commented on mission 10 regarding that specific target.  He provided his mission video and I watched that portion.  His settings were CCIP, PRI, but no setting for EFUZ.  I watch the roll in and there was a vertical line as if a CCRP approach.  As he dove in, the vertical line went away and was replaced with the CCIP symbology (line extending from velocity vector and "X" at the bottom).  Don't know why it just changed to what it was supposed to be, but it did.  He made the drop successfully.

I just dread the thought of having to replay the whole thing just to get to that portion of the mission to find if I can get it to work.

That is working as intended.  If you have a TARGET DESIGNATED it will always keep you in CCRP mode, even if you try to change to CCIP.  If you UNDESIGNATE you'll get CCIP targeting option.  This should be true with clusters and any GP bombs.

I haven't see the video you mention in your 2nd post, but I presume that he undesignated the target as he rolled in and lined up.  It would then switch back to CCIP mode.

There was recently a fuze update in DCS. The Mk20 Rockeye now only has timed fuze options, which the F-18 has absolutely no symbology for, or options to enter fuze setting into the A/C. This weapon is now unusable in any practical way. You could maybe drop it CCIP in some hacked way, but this campaign wants you to use these in high-threat environments with AAA and SAMs, I think it would be suicide trying to use these here.

I would strongly suggest to swap them out for the almost identical CBU-99, which has an altitude fuze option.

You have to set it to a desired burst height in the rearm menu, and then enter this HT using MFUZE VT1 in the hornet. Any other option will not work for you. This cannot be modified in the A/C on the fly, so you should give the burst height in the brief.

Workaround - rearm as such at mission start - hopefully won't break scripting?

Also, if using pre-update missions after this update, some fuzes will not work at all, you need to remove the loadout and readd it as a workaround. This behaviour might have changed since I last looked.

I'm stuck at mission 9 precisely because of this. The MK-20s have a TIMED fuse (The MK339) which you can't not change even in the mission planner. MK-20s should ideally use the FZU-39 or FMU-140 proximity fuzes, which would enable more accurate control of burst altitude so that your MKs don't burst open immediatly after drop. I know this is DCS issue and NOT a campaign problem but I would like to know if at least I can change my MK-20s for CBU-99s without breaking the triggers

So when it comes to changing load-outs I always say do it at your own risk, as it's been 3+ years since the missions were built and I struggle to remember every detail of how I built them...but that said on both Missions 9 and 110 I can't see any triggers relating to the Rockeyes so as far as I can see all should be ok if you change them.

Personally I don't think the Mk-20s are all that bad in my testing, just got to set the MFUZ correctly in the cockpit.  By default the PRI setting will open the canister 1.2 sec after release, so should be used at low altitudes.  OPT will open after 4 sec so is better used at higher altitudes.

Airbase has a couple of manpads and 2 SA-8's scattered all over including AAA's in 2 or 3 positions. Its suicide 🙂 thats why I'm taking care of the low altitude threats for the tornados to make their run. I rather not use myself as bait after 20 minutes just trying to reach the target 🙂

I'll do some more testing to find alternatives using the same mk-20 at low altitude as you suggest. Thanks!
