Chewmann Posted July 22 Posted July 22 (edited) I get to the dashboard and when I click on "Launch DCS" the game crashes every time. I sent the crash reports for 3 of them already. I tried the DCS_updater.exe and the DCS.exe. Both do the same thing. Prior to the hot fix, I was able to get in the game, so it has nothing to do with mods or the like. Edited July 22 by Chewmann

Glowingheat Posted July 22 Posted July 22 Are you using Malwarebytes? I am and I think it's quarantined DCS as ransomware LOL
Chewmann Posted July 22 Author Posted July 22 I do. I even added it to the Allow list. Let me check to see if anything silly is happening with it. Thanks!
Glowingheat Posted July 22 Posted July 22 Let me know because I'm a little nervous about allowing it since the damage ransomware can do would be devastating to me.
Regamuffin Posted July 22 Posted July 22 (edited) im suffering from the exact same problem, Seems to be exclusive to VR withing mt. as it will launch outside of vr and vr in st dcs.log Edited July 22 by Regamuffin Reg:pilotfly:
T24_Martin Posted July 22 Posted July 22 (edited) Me too. Crash during first flight. pimax Crystal Quad views user. No third party virus software. DCS is on the exception list already. Edited July 22 by T24_Martin
Chewmann Posted July 22 Author Posted July 22 I turned off Malwarebytes and Window Defender and no joy. Still crashes
Flappie Posted July 22 Posted July 22 Just now, Chewmann said: I turned off Malwarebytes and Window Defender and no joy. Still crashes Maybe the DCS.exe binary was quarantined. You need to run a DCS repair, now. ---
Glowingheat Posted July 22 Posted July 22 Not sure why they released this patch so quickly before testing it thoroughly....
TKhaos Posted July 22 Posted July 22 (edited) Says down the bottom of your log: STATUS: Can't run C:\Games\DCS.openbeta\bin-mt/DCS.exe: (2) The system cannot find the file specified. so looks like dcs.exe is missing from the bin-mt folder. It's either been quarantined as already suggested or somehow moved or deleted. Do as advised and run a repair and should add it back. I use Malwarebytes and it's not quarantined any of my DCS files and I'm really strict on my scans, I use multiple systems to scan so not just that. Also if you got really important stuff it's always a good idea to buy an external drive and keep a backup and/or clone of the drive. Edited July 22 by TKhaos 2

My Malwarebytes says removal failed - it's just the ransomware part that bothers me, even if its a false positive, it fills me with utter dread!
T24_Martin Posted July 22 Posted July 22 For me it was running fine now. I also excluded the saved games folder in windows defender and deleted metashaders and fxo files.
MAXsenna Posted July 22 Posted July 22 Not sure why they released this patch so quickly before testing it thoroughly....Eagle Dynamics can't do anything about Anti-Virus solutions that flags false positives apart from submitting files that are flagged. TKhaos Posted July 22 Posted July 22 Most errors look the same are what I get but there is a 'NvAPI_Initialize Error' in yours which is Nvidia, might help to repair/reinstall or update your graphics drivers. I noticed the only dcs.exe reference you got in that log is for the normal version, not bin-mt so try launching MT first.

Free advice guys. Setup a virtual machine, and do all your browsing, emails and whatnot from that one. Take a snapshot and reset if anything bad happens.Ransom ware? Don't download software cracks, don't visit dubious porn sites, don't click strange links in strange emails, list goes on. Basically think!Cheers guys! Sent from my SM-A536B using Tapatalk 1

Glowingheat Posted July 22 Posted July 22 Finished the slow repair, but Malwarebytes still complaining about Ransomware with DCS.exe - so I'm calling it a night, good luck everyone I'll check back tomorrow and hopefully ED will put out a solution. 1
