As soon as I designate point on ground on HUD or via TPOD, the CCIP cross disappears, never to reappear. Replaced by line with no obvious que as when to drop CCIP. My Mk82 are set to CCIP in STORES page. Must have forgotten something. Becouse I am just confused as what to do.

OK so when in AUTO when do you drop. I don't a see que line, a horizontal traveling line, a countdown, anything?

Undesignate is hold down HIGAIN NWS. I do that, but target stays designated, and FLIR wont re-center.

There will be a horizontal line moving and, but I am not sure anymore, also a countdown.

Just press it, and that should undesignate.

Press TDC to designate a point on the ground, or WPDSG to designate the current selected waypoint on the SA page or HSI page. Then you'll see the ASL and release queue when close enough to the target. Page 320 on the manual.

When you undesignate, there is no point of interest for targeting as far as I remember.

Don't mix CCIP with designating a target with any sensor. Undesignate to get to CCIP to pickle, or remain on AUTO to CCRP the ordinance.
If you want the diamond, keep on CCRP and release the ordinance in a dive or level adhering with the ASL centered with the velocity vector for precision.

Don't mix the F-16C or other aircraft methods with the Hornet.

CCRP in F/A-18C confuses the blink out of me. I cant understand the symbology. When do you release, and often the vertical line is so far to the side of HUD, when traget is right in center, it makes no sense to me whatsoever. Where is the rlease que? Where is countdown? Its confusing, and tutorials dont do anything for me. So far Mk-82/83 bombs are a lost cause in F/A-18C. I have no probem using  MK bombs in A-10CII, in AV8B, in M2KC. But In Hornet its just weird. I dont know what I am missing.

At this point get us a short track.

This video is rather old, but it hasn't changed much if at all.

You can jump to the AUTO MODE section at 3:49, but overall it is a good explanation of the different bombing modes.  He uses HUD designation for auto, but explains that you can use WP Designation or really any other means of designation. So don't get hung up on the "BALL AND CHAIN" symbology used for the initial designation. In any case, the appropriate symbology is shown and explained.

A track from you might be useful because you might be missing a step which is leading to your difficulty in seeing/interpreting the symbology.

Its nota bug issue. Its presentation. I dont understand what I am seeing, or not seeing.

Tracks will show us what you see, and we can see what you are doing. Tracks are not for bugs only.

Oi. vei ! Again. In auto mode, when do I actiually press the relase button. Me crying in desperation.

Did you watch the video? Hold the pickle button when you see the release cue start to move down. I appears about 5-7 sec before release as shown in the HUD, so you can start holding it down at that point.  Really, you can hold it down anytime as long as it is depressed when the release cue hits the velocity vector. It is pretty much THE SAME as the HARRIER AUTO mode.

I am getting some B.S here. In AUTO mode, when I press release, the relase is instantaneous and weapons miss. Which is what confuses me in Hornet. I am suppoused to hold down release and weapon delivery system actually releases. But I am not getting that.

That is why a TRK would be useful. You are clearly doing something wrong. If I had to guess, I would say you have not made a designation at all or are in CCIP mode.

And we're all guessing blind as to what you are or aren't doing.  PLEASE just post a track and probably someone will be able to get you sorted out pretty simple.  What you're describing makes no sense if you're doing things right.

And can I suggest reading the manual starting at page 315 because that should answer most of your questions.
