Flapjacks Posted August 2, 2024 Posted August 2, 2024 Hey, so when I get a weapon release aborted message (I know why I get them, I mess up pickling from time to time), I use to be able to go into the inventory page and reload the type of bomb to clear the abort message in the DSMS page. I just tried that though and it's not working. Anyone know if this is a bug?

If you are trying to drop a JDAM and you interrupt the release process by quick pickling you have a few seconds to mash the button again and hope you are still in LAR for the bomb to come off. If you don't depress and hold the pickle button before leaving the LAR you are now the proud owner of a 500/2000lb paperweight. 2 1
Flapjacks Posted August 2, 2024 Author Posted August 2, 2024 Could've sworn we could clear it by reloading in the inventory page though. I tried with a cbu as well and it still didn't work. Ah well, thanks!

The CBU-87 and CBU-97 are kind of dumb bombs like the Mk-82, whereas the CBU-103 and CBU-105 WCMDs are inertially aided munitions and require a targeting transfer from the jet to the bomb just like the GBU-31/GBU-38 JDAMs, and in turn it makes sense that they'll behave similarly to JDAMs (though I know nothing of their innards and whether JDAMs and WCMDs use different batteries or whatever). 1

Yeah, they were CBU-105's, so come to think of it, I get why they wouldn't work either. 1
