Hey guys!

I bought the F18 a while ago and am currently learning how to use it. A few days ago I watched tutorials about laser-guided bombs and did everything exactly as in the tutorial. But after about 20 attempts I still didn't get a single hit. I noticed that the bomb wasn't guided at all and, like an unguided bomb, just went downwards. Even when the laser went on, the bomb didn't move a bit even though it was already over the target. I double and triple checked that all weapon pylons had the same laser code, that the laser was on and even tried to control the laser manually using the trigger. Nothing worked. Can someone help me with this problem?

We'll probably need a track replay so we can see your steps to help diagnose.

Unfortunately I can't upload a video because you're limited to 50 mb, but I can still try to describe everything I do in the cockpit to get my laser-guided bombs to hit their target: I spawn in the air at an altitude of 20,000 feet 20 miles from waypoint 1 Away where a few trucks are parked. A/G mode on. Laser Armed. Click on code on the weapon page on the left DDI and enter a laser code (in my case 1438). After that I go to the HSI page and select the 1 waypoint as a Waypoint Designate Point. Then I go to Flir on the right DDI. My targeting pod is now looking at waypoint 1. I press Sensor Control to the right and can now select one of the trucks. Now I change the laser code from the standard 1688 to mine (1438) when I'm only 10 miles from the target I press Sensor Control to the right twice and the TDC Depress. As soon as the line appears in my hud, I hold down the weapon release button until the bomb drops. I now keep the camera on the target until the computer says the bomb has hit. But no matter how fast and at what altitude I fly, my bomb always misses its target by miles

What you want to post is a TRACK FILE (rather than a video) which you can save from the debriefing window after you end the mission.

If you've put the TDC over the truck, then you should only need to TDC depress to set it as target.  You really only need to SCS right more than once if you can't slew it (I can't remember exactly how that works in Litening in case you're using that, I usually use ATFLIR).

From your description my guess is that you haven't changed the laser code ON THE BOMB in the REARM menu.  Changing it in the SMS menu no longer changes it on the bomb.  You need to click the triangle in the upper left corner of the bomb in the REARM menu before you fly (or in change it in the mission editor) and change the laser code on the bomb itself otherwise it will be set to 1688.  Try lasing on 1688 and see if that works.

In agreement with the above post; user error. The CODE option on the STORES page doesn't change the actual laser code anymore. IRL, these are set physically on the bomb's guidance unit with a screwdriver. In the case of DCS, this would be set either in the mission editor or in the re-arming menu. The code choice is also in error, as 1438 is not a valid code for Paveway II series LGBs (GBU-10, -12, and -16). The second digit can only be 5, 6 or 7.

Still.... WHY can we still input codes and fuse-settings on the MFD ?

You set the codes and fuses on the MFD to match the ordnance you have on your aircraft.
