JOEM423 Posted September 4, 2024 Posted September 4, 2024 Ive got a 2yo 4ghz pc using an Nvidia 4070ti! When the Sky is filled with planes in Combat, I get 7FPS which is beyond rediculous! When I fly the F14, a carrier deck with planes taking off , ships galore, helicopters taking off and several incoming flights of Migs with F-14's in Combat my FPS never drop below 40 and most of the times its pegged at 60fps! I have stiings maxed with the F14, Ultra clouds with fog and dust enabled! your F-4 module needs lots of work to get your frame rates up. Even with settings on minimum, the F-4 still yields atrocious frame rates! Ill stay flying the F-14 till you get the F-4 Module fixed! Sorry for the poor report on what otherwise can be a great addition to DCS!!! TIA ,Joe

G.J.S Posted September 5, 2024 Posted September 5, 2024 There’s quite a few threads discussing performance, which I genuinely find surprising. I guarantee everyone here has a system that will beat the cr*p out of mine, yet I don’t have any issues that others describe. My card for instance is an Nvidia GeForce 1070. Old. And I’m on an HDD. Could there be a thing with higher spec cards? I’ll admit, I’m older than dirt, and really don’t know a whole lot with regards to bang-whizz specs, but I’m really shocked that these issues are cropping up for those of you with PC’s that could make NASA weep. 1 - - - The only real mystery in life is just why kamikaze pilots wore helmets? - - -
Zabuzard Posted September 5, 2024 Posted September 5, 2024 The module is at a stage where performance issues are usually not necessarily related to good or bad hardware anymore, but instead to very specific combinations of hardware, software and other setup related things that lead to niche and super specific issues. Thats why you will find people who play without any issues, as well as people who do experience problems throughout the entire spectrum. 4

Jeez, I don’t envy your optimisation people. Stress!!! - - - The only real mystery in life is just why kamikaze pilots wore helmets? - - -

My computer features a mere 16GB RAM & a not-leading edge NViDIA card. Runs the F-4E just fine. As with the airplanes themselves , technology is no guarantee of good results in the field. 2

JOEM423, try emptying the fxo and metashaders2 folders in "saved games > DCS" after you load into a mission or server if you haven't tried already. My frames in general improved after I started doing this.
MAXsenna Posted September 11, 2024 Posted September 11, 2024 I ran the texture resize script. Saved 150Gigs of disks pace, and it runs fine. 1

Hi, sounds interesting, can you provide more details, like where to get the script? ... also, do you need to re-run it after a DCS update or repair? .. how long it takes to run? Thanks, Eduardo Took a couple of hours trawling through mods, coremods and bazar. I do have all modules, and my computer is slow. It makes a mod actually. But because it's 60GB (Saves 150+), and I don't want to waste space (backup) and writes with an ordinary mod manager, I started using SLAM that just creates symlinks. Bartek's Caucasus mod takes two seconds to apply. https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3339453/ Cheers! 3
