had my first few flights with full rudder ffb from DCS and it feels great. A 20mm motor so far is plenty, even a plastic 15mm motor may be fine if you already have one 👍

Will try building collective next

I guess we can't just mod an off-shelf rudder to be FFB...

?
Sure we can. Either I misunderstood you or I am confused.
There are FFB-mods for all wide spread Pedals available.

Great to know. Thanks.

What kind of pedals do you own?

LS  FFB The World!!

a hoverboard motor on TPR pedals. Direct drive with no pulleys needed, keeping the design simple and appears to have motor on the inside. I can confirm it would be butter smooth with decent power if using a 20mm magnet motor. The motor is smooth enough to not notice cogging IMHO.

Not sure if he's selling this as a mod but he may have the parts cut ready to use?

may just need to trim off the rims a little to make it fit

low budget, zero prestige ffb joystick no.2

approx $300 aud to build (all parts and license) just waiting for the controller board to arrive

The broom handle and metal stick ar e 1 metre in total. Both 30mm magnet motors running at 60% power. Overall smoothness is similar to the other build which is a good thing. No real difference in feel between the two axis even with the motor weight / mass

p.s  i take back what i said about winwing being limited to smaller motors if they attach one to an axis

The stick length from pivot to middle of grip;

on the direct drive one it is about 46cm and gets nearly 3kg of force at max power, at the grip (30mm motors)   I fly with it set at 70% power

on the geared up one it is about 53cm and gets about 6.5kg of force at max power, at the grip (25mm motors)  I set it to 30% power

If you don't need the extreme force, but want something stronger than rhino and moza, low to the ground and a very simple to build design, the direct drive one could be the way to go - and only $330 aud in total plus using a bit of scrap angle iron. The controller is in the black box (box is oversized for the job but was cheap). you can extend the wires and put it wherever you want.

A power supply to run them is about $20 aud off ebay. (Used HP server power supplies)

Prestige is irrelevant. Only function counts! 👍
