But if outside coordinates set to Follow, AI will come close but then he will almost stop come closer - only 1-2 knots faster than Lead aircraft. So it will take ages for AI to rejoin. If you allow the AI to get into position and then perform your turn they have no issue. Otherwise, you are starting from a deficient and the AI struggles to catch up without abusing speed and such. But this method you mentioned "I will not say stupid", but it is only bypassing of the current stupid/broken AI logic (AI still have plenty of power to increase closure rate) and IRL this is very common type of rejoin called "CV Rendezvous", it cannot be instructed and hope for a mirracle that paid campaign player will do so. ED team must work harder and not searching for bypasses and workarounds.
