Ramstein Posted May 25, 2009 Posted May 25, 2009 I was hovering, but far enough from targets that I was safe enough, maybe 7 km... and al of a sudden I had engine power loss. after about 15 seconds, I got a message 'Board 50 Hydro Fire' and the helo proceeded to go down with no engine power. I was not hit by any missle or rocket. I don't think I was close enough to any enemy for small arms fire. What happened? That is at least the 2nd time it has happened to me. :joystick: ASUS Strix Z790-H, i9-13900, WartHog HOTAS and MFG Crosswind G.Skill 64 GB Ram, 2TB SSD EVGA Nvidia RTX 2080-TI (trying to hang on for a bit longer) 55" Sony OLED TV, Oculus VR
Jack McCoy Posted May 25, 2009 Posted May 25, 2009 Do you have a TRK? i7-7700K@4.8GHz, 16Gb-3200, GTX-1080Ti-Strix-11Gb, Maximus IX Hero, Oculus Rift, Thrustmaster Warthog+F/A-18C, Logitech G940 Pedals.
Ramstein Posted May 25, 2009 Author Posted May 25, 2009 (edited) Do you have a TRK? why would I have a track?... but no I don't.. like I said, I was hovering at least 7km from any enemy if not more.. and low to the ground Edited May 25, 2009 by Ramstein ASUS Strix Z790-H, i9-13900, WartHog HOTAS and MFG Crosswind G.Skill 64 GB Ram, 2TB SSD EVGA Nvidia RTX 2080-TI (trying to hang on for a bit longer) 55" Sony OLED TV, Oculus VR
Jack McCoy Posted May 25, 2009 Posted May 25, 2009 Because something unexplained happened during that flight, and you'd want to review it... So you would have saved the track, no? i7-7700K@4.8GHz, 16Gb-3200, GTX-1080Ti-Strix-11Gb, Maximus IX Hero, Oculus Rift, Thrustmaster Warthog+F/A-18C, Logitech G940 Pedals.
STP Dragon Posted May 25, 2009 Posted May 25, 2009 This happend also to me. I was flying around with ca. 200Km/h in a high mountain region. There was no enemy on the map. I only want to fly around and observe the region. Suddenly EKRAN says vibration in the right engine. Then fire in the right engine and I'm going down. I don't know what happened. Get TacView, it records your missions automatically and you can watch the battlefield afterwards to see what happened. It does not protocol any internal failures, but at least you will know if something hit you or if it was a system failure (those are pretty sparse, so i'd still tip on a manpad you overlooked or smthing like that). cheers Good, fast, cheap. dawestsides Posted May 25, 2009 Posted May 25, 2009 I just ordered BS and I'm currently browsing the forums to collect maximum info. So you have to watch also for engine failures and those things (oil pressure,temps,...)? [/url]My MAKS 2015 Pictures

I think theres enough info out there, you just have to pick it up :) 1 Good, fast, cheap. Choose any two. Come let's eat grandpa! Use punctuation, save lives!

sobek Posted May 25, 2009 Posted May 25, 2009 Aren't we talking about an engine failure in this thread??? :( My question is on the same path as Ramstein's. About the specific one that happened to Ramstein, not in general. Read this for example on what is modelled: http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=555798&postcount=13 Engine failures do happen, engines can deteriorate or stall due to overstress. Happy? Now back OT.;) PS: The search button thingie.:) Good, fast, cheap. Choose any two. Come let's eat grandpa! Use punctuation, save lives!
deephack Posted May 25, 2009 Posted May 25, 2009 Did you have both engine governors turned on? https://www.youtube.com/user/deephack

Weta43 Posted May 28, 2009 Posted May 28, 2009 If you forget to save a track and then decide you need one, as long as you haven't flown another mission your track will be in the temp folder labelled "LastMissionTrack.trk" Copy and rename as needed. Cheers.
kiss4luna Posted May 28, 2009 Posted May 28, 2009 it seems that i kept my engines in the right curve but this happens sometimes. next time i will save the track and check what i am doing RTX 3070
fox_111 Posted May 28, 2009 Posted May 28, 2009 Is the anti dust or anti ice systems on when not needed, as in Cheat auto startup? That could possibly overheat the engine, mixed with abuse of the collective, resulting in what you experienced.
ED Team Yo-Yo Posted May 29, 2009 ED Team Posted May 29, 2009 Is the anti dust or anti ice systems on when not needed, as in Cheat auto startup? That could possibly overheat the engine, mixed with abuse of the collective, resulting in what you experienced. You are wrong. If EEG is on there is no way to get EGT too high even if any of these devices are on.. Contrariwise, the hovering in the dust cloud without dust protector really can damage the engine (FOD possibility). I think the main reason of engine fire in BS is FOD or EEG switched off. Or battle damages of course. Ніщо так сильно не ранить мозок, як уламки скла від розбитих рожевих окулярів There is nothing so hurtful for the brain as splinters of broken rose-coloured spectacles.
