Anyone know how to remove the pilots head from view? When I turn to look 6 o’clock position I see the pilots huge head in the way and can’t see the tail.

thanks

I think you can only disable the pilot entirely by shift+p

Yeah I’m trying to avoid that, for immersion. The f18 does not have this issue so I’m wondering if it’s a problem on my end

Only thing that comes to my mind is the camera position and zoom factor.

Hmmm ok I’ll tinker. Am I the only one with this issue?

I remember it being a topic in f18 forum for a while and they fixed it for all users. Wonder if they can do same for 16

@LavaFlight

We've seen this happen when people move the pilot POV forward. The head is programmed to appear after passing a threshold. If you move the central position forth you'll be beyond this threshold. Reset the view or move back and you will hide the pilot's head.

POV in default position:

POV moved forward:

If you are using Track IR, for example, try to adjust the forward/aft axis so it doesn't move so much when you turn your head left or right. It's a matter of adjusting as you can see in my images above using TIR.

Hi,

I don't have any particular problem with this approach. But I get why some people like to move the camera a bit more forward. It can help to read the instruments clearly, without messing up the outside fov by the use of zoom.

Maybe you can adjust the treshold a bit to, make it less sensitive in that case?

Another possible solution could be to adjust the shoulder width and neck offset, which can be done in the server.lua and snapview.lua under savegames/config/views if I remember correctly.

I'll ask the team what can be done, but this has been adjusted according to the pilot's real position and I'm not sure adjusting this threshold would bring other issues.

Thanks for your response, I’m still curious if the limits in the f18 could be similarly translated to the 16, since this doesn’t occur in the 18 regardless of forward movement? (Not that I have seen anyways)

ED you guys alive or what

We are, but we have no plans to adjust the POV, it is working as intended.

Again, I’m just curious and asking why this problem doesn’t exist in the F18 but exists in the f16?

Regardless thanks for response and hard work! Keep it up

This isn't a "problem" this is a feature added for those with VR and head motion devices to remove the head but replace it if necessary for screenshots or other situations.

If you move the pilot POV forward beyond the threshold on the F/A-18C, it will also show the head:
