Cannot launch Sim? Same install I have been using for years...

Swapped CPU and Motherboard yesterday, same windows install, same game install, nothing has changed for years, and I get this error from the launcher:

 

 

I cannot press any buttons in the launcher.  Nothing works.

Help.

This is bad, real bad.  When the launcher box does open up and I click on a button, the entire launcher goes black.

Firewall rules are allowing inbound and outbound connections.

I would try changing the name of the saved game folder so a new one can be created, when/if the game will launch. This is harmless since you can change it back if it doesn't get you going.

You may be looking at a re-install if DCS has configurations tied to the old hardware somehow.

I'm surprised windows didn't tank.

No need for a re-installation. DCS is "portable". OP should have told us if he did a full repair though, if all drivers for the new combo has been installed. And, ALL device IDs will have changed in Saved Games.

I did a repair.  Not the fullest deep repair though.

renaming the folder did not help.  The launcher remains "frozen" when I start up.  No buttons can be pressed.

I am going mad and about to delete this entire program.  This is insane.  I've spent way too much on DCS to have this go fubar like this.

I solved the problem by setting ["launcher"] = false in the /users/documents/saved games/dcs/config/options.lua

 

DCS then let me log in, since that information was missing after the upgrade.  I think the launcher was panicking?  Seems like a pesky bug ED needs to fix.

I've been up 19 hours so if I'm off the mark that's why, not sure if it's the new launcher causing problems or not but presuming it is so could try bypassing that and launching from the original version.

You need to edit the Options.lua file, make a copy first.

First go to 'your username\Saved Games\DCS\Config\' and find options.lua

Next find the line ["launcher"] = true and change it to ["launcher"] = false (for me in Notepad ++ it's on line 137 but can search it anyway)

Next save the file and launch DCS as normal and it will take you to the original login screen

Excellent! Can't believe I didn't think of that.  

I don't use the Launcher. I use Skatezilla's, and circumvent went it after reading about all the settings it messes up. With Skatezilla's app I can have more presets too.

In the future please attach your dcs log it will give us some clues. 

It is important to remove all unofficial mods including reshade when you are having issues and run a slow repair
