Since the last update it seems that aircraft/units cannot be added to different countries anymore.

I have tried multiple times but no change.

I have made sure that historical mode is not selected etc.

I'm not sure if I missed something but is there a new way to be able to do this?

What fo you mean by adding units to different countries?

As far as I know you can't add a unit to the country in ME at least.

You can add countries to a different coalition.

Example, you can move Russia over to the Blue coalition.

the OP is talking about editing the db_countries FILE by hand, where you can change the units allowed to each country.

Ah.. 😅 never heard of anyone doing that. Don't know why you would have to, I just use the joint coalition country to use anny unit for that coalition.

The joint Coalition is a relatively new feature of the Mission Editor, there was a time when we didnt have it. Also, editing the db_countries file allows you to define countries that are not yet on DCS, like this person did:

My apologies I should have been more clear.

I meant allowing an aircraft or unit to be selected by a country in game that is not allowed by default.

For instance the L-39ZA cannot be assigned to Egypt by default, however if you add it manually to Egypt in db_countries it will appear as a selectable aircraft.

This method used to work before the recent update but it appears as if something has changed.

Adding aircraft or other units to a country that does not by default have those aircraft/units as default does not get recognised anymore.

I was just curious if anyone else is experiencing this issue and if anyone has found a workaround.

I do recognise that I can just choose a joint coalition but I have missions where I don't specifically want to use a coalition but rather a specific country.
