aviramad Posted October 19, 2024 Posted October 19, 2024 Hello, I can't understand, and it begin to look as unusual, when more and more terrains offers to us as DCS users, and each terrain beave as individual without any ability to use a multi terrains when user purchased a connected terrains. for example, Syria map can't connect to Sinai and there is not ability to build mission that presents and deal with more than one region. now DCS offer Iraq map that have a border with Syria, so, If DCS could change this situation, we could plan a mission that involve all the countries that located in Iraq , Syria , and Sinai terrains . ED, please do something that will change this limit situation. Thank you 1 Aviram_AD
rob10 Posted October 20, 2024 Posted October 20, 2024 A big part of the problem is that the maps may be built on different technologies (depending which maps, but definitely something like Iraq and Syria), so it's not as simple as "allowing" joining of the maps. In order to allow joining would likely require a complete re-write of (presumably the older) map. Not going to happen. 1
SharpeXB Posted October 21, 2024 Posted October 21, 2024 The current maps are flat so along with other obstacles joining them likely wouldn’t be possible. There is a global or spherical earth planned for DCS but I’m not aware of any further info on it. I assume it’s very far in the future. i9-14900KS | ASUS ROG MAXIMUS Z790 HERO | 64GB DDR5 5600MHz | iCUE H150i Liquid CPU Cooler | ASUS TUF GeForce RTX 4090 OC | Windows 11 Home | 2TB Samsung 980 PRO NVMe | Corsair RM1000x | LG 48GQ900-B 4K OLED Monitor | CH Fighterstick | Ch Pro Throttle | CH Pro Pedals | TrackIR 5
draconus Posted October 22, 2024 Posted October 22, 2024 (edited) In programming everything is possible, it just takes time, will and money. And the idea may sound simple but it's not. It's either huge manual work or making very complex smart program that helps with that. Connected maps would skyrocket the memory requirements. There can also be smart loading invented that would not require more memory - it'd just unload one map and load the other in background while positioning you at the correct location to make it more seamless. But you can already make a mission where you reach one zone, mission ends and loads the next mission on another map. Overall feasibility is very low for such project. DCS goes toward global map to reach such goals. Edited October 22, 2024 by draconus 2 Win10 i7-10700KF 32GB RTX4070S Quest 3 T16000M VPC CDT-VMAX TFRP FC3 F-14A/B F-15E CA SC NTTR PG Syria
Gigafiga Posted October 22, 2024 Posted October 22, 2024 And what’s the point to have a single huge map from crimea to pakistan, when AI can’t manage 50 units ? 2

aviramad Posted October 26, 2024 Author Posted October 26, 2024 So, we can continue to dream, Limit to only one territory while the adjacent territories were also purchased, E.D users are prevented from creating missions with simulations close to the real situation. In programming nothing is impossible, especially if ED dictated the specific structure and pattern in which the terrains prepared so far were prepared. Anyway, thank you for the reply. 1 Aviram_AD
