Rodriguez Posted June 2, 2009 Posted June 2, 2009 (edited) Nvidia release 185.85 includes an SLI profile for DCS:Black Shark Can someone confirm that SLI is working for them with this driver, I can't get it to work... Thanks Please refrain from "...SLI is not necessary for this game..." comments  Edited June 2, 2009 by Rodriguez Evga Classified w/ Koolance Mb/Vreg blocks i7 975 Extreme @ 4.45Ghz 12Gb OCZ Blade 2000Mhz 7-8-7 @ 2000 7-8-7-20 1T PC P&C Turbo-cool 1200W SLI BFG GTX280 H2OC (watercooled) 4x OCZ Vertex 120Gb RAID0 480Gb 1x OCZ Vertex 30Gb Temp 2x WD Velociraptor 300GB Raid 1 Adaptec RAID 5805 X-Fi Titanium Fatal1ty Champion 30' NEC LCD3090WQXi Swiftech GTZ, Hailea chiller HC1000 LianLi TYR PCX2000 Saitek X52 Flight system TrackIR 5 + Trackclip Pro Vista 64bit
AussieFX Posted June 2, 2009 Posted June 2, 2009 (edited) Does the game itself support multi gpu? I have crossfired 4870's and I usually disable them for this game. I remember Crysis needed a patch before multi gpu's were working correctly. It would be nice to see it implemented, I'm getting 70fps with a single card in training but when the action starts I think it might slowdown somewhat. Edited June 2, 2009 by AussieFX

I'm not aware if the game supports it or not BUT if Nvidia makes an SLI profile for this game & includes it in it's official driver release I would deffinately conclude that Nvidia got SLI working with this driver even if the game is not optimized for it. For what other purpose would Nvidia make an SLI profile for? Dusty Rhodes Posted June 2, 2009 Posted June 2, 2009 That is a good question Rod. I hope it does work as I have my second GTX 295 just sitting on the shelf waiting to see an answer to this before I install it. With DCSMax I am already getting stellar FPS but I want all the FPS I can get so no matter how much activity there is, I have smooth Frame Rates. Check out your Nvidia Control Panel for ver 185.85 & you'll see that Nvidia has a profile named "Digital Combat Simulator: Black Shark". Turn on Visual SLI indicator in Control Panel & since you have a GTX295 (dual GPU card) it should show if it's working or not. Amuro Posted June 3, 2009 Posted June 3, 2009 Why don't you try it yourself? It depends on what SLI rendering mode the profile is using. For example, even though there's an official profile for LockOn, SLI doesn't work becasue the rendering mode is set to Single GPU. If you have nHancer installed, you can check what mode the profile is using. If it's set to anything other than Single, SLI should work. Anyway, SLI works with DCS when I use my custom profile. I'll check with the official profile when I got home and report back. Slayer Posted June 3, 2009 Posted June 3, 2009 I'm using this driver on Vista 64 bit but the profile doesnt show at all, it's not in the list for me. These profiles are always flaky for me. Many times it doesnt detect games I have installed. especially if I didn't install to the default path. I've tried restoring defaults and looking in the list with the "only show installed games" unchecked. BTW with a GTX 295 you do not get the option to show SLI visual indicators unlesss you install a 2nd card :/ probably an oversight on Nvidias part..... I've tried restoring defaults and looking in the list with the "only show installed games" unchecked. I have that too, I've found if I hit the Add button and browse to DCS.exe then it'll show it in the list, but it won't remain there. I think the profile does work for it though as I used it to increase the antialiasing setting. BTW with a GTX 295 you do not get the option to show SLI visual indicators unlesss you install a 2nd card :/ probably an oversight on Nvidias part..... I was wondering about that - hope they fix it. I liked having those bars to show GPU load back when I had an SLI system. I'd actually find it useful with a single GPU system as well, just to see how loaded the video card actually is.
dawestsides Posted June 3, 2009 Posted June 3, 2009 (edited) I recently updated from 182.50 to 185.50 and I noticed a significant increase in my Vantage score on Vista x64 along with the EVGA SLI enhancement patch V12 that includes BS SLI profile. http://www.evga.com/articles/00463/ I haven't checked the fps but I can tell that my framerates improved a lot and the game is smoother. If you read the first post in this thread....I'm saying that I HAVE tried it & it didn't work, so I was asking others for their results:thumbup: The change list says "Enable SLI for DCS: Black Shark", I'm talking about the official release stating SLI for DCS which means that.....SLI should work:). LockOn never had an SLI profile, it just had a profile. My default DCS profile under SLI reads: Nvidia recommends SLI= enabled People with SLI, try out this to see if you get the same result: Under DCS profile in ver 185.85 Enable SLI visual indicator Set SLI render to: alternative 1 Run DCS & check if the SLI bar extends then load DCS with DCSMax all cores, under same previous conditions Does the SLI indicator extend to more than twice the previous load? Pilotasso Posted June 3, 2009 Posted June 3, 2009 (edited) I have tried this. After initialy booting the GFX controll panel, there was no default DCS profiled. But as soon as I selected "add" boooooom, there it was. While LOMAC NVIDIA reccomended settings were single GPU (and doesnt want to settle for multi GPU) DCS allowed to be in multi GPU as recommended default. Results in FPS: none. it makes no difference. Windows XP 32 here so no 2 CPU's afinity trick for me: 50FPS on the quickstart mission, 1 or 2 GPU's. DCS is still heavily CPU bound no matter the card (if you have a decently modern system), unless you have a gigantic monitor setup. I didnt try filters as I play with AA off. Pilotasso Posted June 4, 2009 Posted June 4, 2009 For me it works, and works well. :pilotfly: BTW what are the recommended SLI settings for BS? It may be different for Vista or Win7 users since DCS uses 2 CPU's under DirectX. I have to keep on XP for now. I also play LOMAC and no starforce update possible for CD version. .
Amuro Posted June 11, 2009 Posted June 11, 2009 For me it works, and works well. :pilotfly: BTW what are the recommended SLI settings for BS? 4-way AFR. It works but the load balancing indicator bar barely fills.
