JozMk.II Posted June 2, 2009 Posted June 2, 2009 Hi, I'd like to adjust the shkval reticule's acceleration and overall speed, as the current speed with a digital input device is rather slow. Can this be done by editing the config file? If so, how?
enigma6584 Posted June 2, 2009 Posted June 2, 2009 I may not be understanding your question correctly but are you aware you can adjust the speed of the Shkval reticle via a control knob on the right side of the cockpit?
Boberro Posted June 2, 2009 Posted June 2, 2009 Yes it can be. There is thread about this. Reminder: Fighter pilots make movies. Bomber pilots make... HISTORY! :D | Also to be remembered: FRENCH TANKS HAVE ONE GEAR FORWARD AND FIVE BACKWARD :D ಠ_ಠ ツ
Panzertard Posted June 2, 2009 Posted June 2, 2009 I think Boberro reffers to this post: http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=657833&postcount=9 The mind is like a parachute. It only works when it's open | The important thing is not to stop questioning
JozMk.II Posted June 2, 2009 Author Posted June 2, 2009 Thanks, I'll give it a shot. I may not be understanding your question correctly but are you aware you can adjust the speed of the Shkval reticle via a control knob on the right side of the cockpit? No, I'm not. Where is it?
Panzertard Posted June 2, 2009 Posted June 2, 2009 Thanks, I'll give it a shot. No, I'm not. Where is it? The side-scan feature, which can be enabled by doublepress-O, has a knob that adjust the sidescan speed. Right panel beneath the autopilot - there's a knob. The mind is like a parachute. Jack McCoy Posted June 3, 2009 Posted June 3, 2009 I think Boberro/Panzertard have it right. And Boberro has the avatar right too! ;) If you edit lua files, remember, no Notepad. Enigma's dial is for the speed of the automatic horizontal scan of the Shkval If you map you Shkval control to 2 axies (horiz and vert), it pans a lot faster than the key-command. You could plug in a secondary joystick for Shkval control. Or map the Radar Cursor analog hat, if you have a Thrustmaster Cougar. i7-7700K@4.8GHz, 16Gb-3200, GTX-1080Ti-Strix-11Gb, Maximus IX Hero, Oculus Rift, Thrustmaster Warthog+F/A-18C, Logitech G940 Pedals.
104th_Crunch Posted June 3, 2009 Posted June 3, 2009 If you map you Shkval control to 2 axies (horiz and vert), it pans a lot faster than the key-command. I had my CH Throttle mini-stick mapped to the X and Y axes and it slewed much quicker. Problem I had was there was no fine control. Even if I flattened the response curves in game or in the CH software. Any ideas how to improve fine control with axes? For now I mapped the stick to send keyboard commands like a joystick hat. The fine control is there, but as this thread mentions, it's slow to slew around. I use helmet mode to get the shkval to point close to where you want it then fine tune in the display.
Panzertard Posted June 3, 2009 Posted June 3, 2009 (edited) Not trying to fuel anything here, but Im not sure what you guys have problems with. Maybe the Shkval slew behaves diffently on different gear - what do I know. :) I use a 4-way hat on my throttle to slew the Shkval. Shkval FOV is mapped to a wheel, close to the slew. (x52 pro) In my experience, with a little use, it should be no problem reaquiring a new target less than a second after the previous is destroyed. Airtargets is a bit more job - but if you throw the "decide and adjust slewspeed" into the formula, you may never get the targeting trained up properly for your reflexes. As for scanning for targets, I use the combination of Wide FOV to slew quickly and Zoom in (narrow FOV) to get more control over the slew, and look at details. To quickly slew again - FOV out, slew - FOV in again. :) For clarity - if you bothered to read as far - all major Shkval function mapped to my throttle, while all weapon systems lock and launch, modes (short/long/med, HE/AR etc) is mapped to my stick. This way Im always able to keep my hands on the sticks while targeting, firing and evading. Edited June 3, 2009 by Panzertard The mind is like a parachute. JozMk.II Posted June 3, 2009 Author Posted June 3, 2009 Thanks guys, editing my SHKVAL_V.lua file worked. However, messing with the knob on the right side of the cockpit doesn't seem to change the slew speed at all. I haven't tried to see if I could notice any difference in the speed of the shkval automatically slewing, though, but this isn't of my concern. As for using an analog device to control the shkval, I don't have much of an option since my Saitek Cyborg Evo Force lacks any sort of secondary analog device. I suppose I could try using a second joystick, but it seems to me like that would ultimately be counter-intuitive since I'd need three arms to be able to use such a configuration effectively. Besides, increasing the speed of the shkval in the lua file seems to address the problem fairly well.
Frederf Posted June 3, 2009 Posted June 3, 2009 However, messing with the knob on the right side of the cockpit doesn't seem to change the slew speed at all. The knob is for adjusting how fast the automatic "look back and forth" mode sweeps.
