Snacko Posted June 2, 2009 Posted June 2, 2009 Sorry if this is stupid question, but I did a search and didn't see anything about this discrepancy. In the game's Game Mode Keycommand document, it says the Hover On/Off key is: H-LAlt. In the game's Real(Simulation) Mode Keycommand document, it says the Hover On/Off key is T-LAlt. Is one of these documents wrong? Or does one key really work in Game mode, and the other key only works in Real mode? What's the deal? Thanks, Snack Snack Officer Intel I9-10850K (OC @ 5.0ghz) │ 64GB (4x16GB) DDR4 3200 │Gigabyte RTX 4090 Gaming OC 24gb - ҉ - Blackshark Cockpit Trainer - ҉ - ♣ Thread | ♥ Download
Distiler Posted June 2, 2009 Posted June 2, 2009 Well, you can setup different key configuration for each mode, so both are correct but only with their respective mode. So if you play in real mode it's T-LALT by default. But you could have tested by yourself ^^ AMD Ryzen 1400 // 16 GB DDR4 2933Mhz // Nvidia 1060 6GB // W10 64bit // Microsoft Sidewinder Precision 2
Snacko Posted June 2, 2009 Author Posted June 2, 2009 I did try, but I have a lot to learn. When I fly out of control, which I do all the time after a while at this point. I am not quite sure what went wrong... So, both are correct for their respective modes. That just seemed dumb, so I didn't think they would do that. Why not just make it Alt-T for both modes? Oh well, I don't want to do any remapping of keys yet. Just trying to learn them. Frederf Posted June 2, 2009 Posted June 2, 2009 I think the game mode has fewer buttons so they put the Hover button on Alt-H for memory purposes. Real mode the hover is more of a trim function so they put it on Alt-T for the same reason. I'm not sure but it's possible that Alt-H and Alt-T both work in game mode, one activating the "game hover" and one activating the "real hover" but perhaps not. Most of us don't bother with the game mode as it just makes it harder to learn the real one. Personally I would suggest that you go through your entire key bind list and delete every one and start over. There are sooooo many keybinds that you will never use and might accidentally hit. If you write them all yourself you can discover unused functions that you wouldn't have known about otherwise, will learn the keys a lot faster, give keybinds that are more reliably HOTAS-bound, and can setup the keys in a manner that you can use. I've got the PVI on the numpad without any shift, ctrl, or alt keys and it really speeds up data entry.
skarden Posted June 2, 2009 Posted June 2, 2009 A quick question if I may guys(soz for the slight hi-jack)I'v found that Alt-T turns on the hover mode for me but it doesn't turn it off,It says that Alt-T is on/off in the controls pdf,but I'm having to use my mouse in cockpit to turn it off :/ anyone else having this problem or am I missing something very obvious. Frederf Posted June 3, 2009 Posted June 3, 2009 It should turn it off. Watch the overhead panel indicator light for whether the feature is on or not. The ALT hold however is automatically engaged when entering hover-hold but is not deactivated upon disengaging of the hover-hold feature. It is up to the pilot to deactivate the ALT hold feature after disengaging hover-hold.
Snacko Posted June 3, 2009 Author Posted June 3, 2009 Thanks for the info Frederf, that is very helpful. Snack Officer Intel I9-10850K (OC @ 5.0ghz) │ 64GB (4x16GB) DDR4 3200 │Gigabyte RTX 4090 Gaming OC 24gb - ҉ - Blackshark Cockpit Trainer - ҉ - ♣ Thread | ♥ Download
Snacko Posted June 15, 2009 Author Posted June 15, 2009 Personally I would suggest that you go through your entire key bind list and delete every one and start over. There are sooooo many keybinds that you will never use and might accidentally hit. I have been thinking about this... If were to delete every key assignment, then the PDF and Printed Manual will not match. Also, joystick and TouchBuddy profiles will have to be reworked and cannot be shared. Has anybody else found this to help them learn and set up their controllers? Just wondering because there are a lot of key commands I will never use, that is true... But I have always liked the fact that Lockon did have every single command assigned. In IL2 about half of the commands were not assigned by default. So, everybody has differences in their keys and it causes problems with sharing profiles for controllers and helping noobs.
