AKULA_OPTIMUS Posted October 30, 2024 Posted October 30, 2024 (edited) Hello all. I just got this campaing, and was trying mission 1, it all works flawlessly, but I can´t get the whole flying group to be showed in the MFD. I remember playing the same mission a few months ago (the free sample one, wich I enjoyed very much and made purchase the whole campaing, my first one ), and it worked well back then. I also know that the F-16 went some changes and the datalink procedure changed a bit, but in other missions it works well, so I don´t know if it is a DCS bug or some mission issue regarding datalink stuff. For the moment I only flew mission 1, I don´t want to get into the rest with a malfunctioning data link just in case its necessary, so I don´t know if this happens in the rest of the campaing. Here are some pictures, the ONLY AIRCRAFT that shows in the MFD is the LEADER of the the other flight, but NOT my wingman or his: EDIT: I just saw there is a similar post with this issue, sorry for the duplicate, I should have posted this in there instead of making a new thread Edited October 30, 2024 by AKULA_OPTIMUS
AKULA_OPTIMUS Posted October 30, 2024 Author Posted October 30, 2024 OK, later in the mission, when targeting the SA3, they show up OK without doing anything else. Its like they activate their link at a fixed point, so you can not see them until then. Is this intended?

I'm still not sure on this, I've seen it a few times where the AI doesn't seem to activate their data link correctly. Possibly a Viper bug, I'll update if I ever figure it out.
B.B.Blender Posted December 11, 2024 Posted December 11, 2024 (edited) In Bogey Dope's walkthrough video, the work around is to turn off your GPS and turn it back on on ground. If it doesn't work, just try a few more times. Go to 4:30, you can check it out and try. Edit Dec 11 2024 : I tried myself, it did not work, but do give it a try anyway. This is a great campaign, this one flaw is not blocking from playing mission one though, will see if there's any update in future. Edited December 11, 2024 by B.B.Blender 2
RLTick Posted December 29, 2024 Posted December 29, 2024 Want to report I'm seeing a similar issue. None of the AI flights never show up on data link for me and I'm following my normal start-up procedure that works in other missions. The GPS on off trick from the video didn't work (tried 4 times). In other missions I don't have this issue and don't need to use the gps on/off trick so it seems specific to at least this mission so far. Thank you

Thank you There seems to be a Viper bug where the rest of your flight takes some time to appear on the data link, but so long as you set it up correctly they will appear after a while (10-20 minutes into the mission possibly). Shouldn't need to do the GPS clock fix, just during startup don't turn on the Data link or mids switch until the INS is aligned and set to Nav.
venomtrk Posted January 22 Posted January 22 (edited) I’ve experienced a similar issue, and here’s how I resolved it: When starting up the systems, avoid turning on DL (Datalink) and MIDS LVT right away. Wait until the alignment is completed and the INS is set to NAV. After that, turn on DL first, followed by MIDS LVT. Within a short time, friendly aircrafts should start appearing on the system, and your wingman will also appear shortly after takeoff. Edited January 22 by venomtrk 1
speed-of-heat Posted January 30 Posted January 30 (edited) Neither fix seems to work for me the only way i seem to get any DL with my flight is to wait until WP 1 and then lead seems to come on but that's it. I also Noted that on NET STATUS GPS Time was set to OFF by default, i dont know if that has any bearing but the reason i mention it was @Bogedope used it for his fix toggling it back and forth but in his video the default is ON ? Allow GPS /INS to correctly align. ICP LIST - ENTER takes you to the DLINK page With GPS TIME highlighted on the NET STATUS page, hit ICP 1 and you should toggle GPS TIME to ON [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
