dawestsides Posted June 12, 2009 Posted June 12, 2009 (edited) No offence meant to anybody here, but I think your coming to the wrong place for overclocking advice. Before you even touch your bios, you should hit SEVERAL dedicated OC sites and do some research. I've seen alot of bunk advice thrown around on game forums (none that I noticed in this thread), I even saw someone tell someone else to not bother running any anti-virus at all - on these boards too. You have expensive stuff there, I would hate to see it messed up because of bad advice. Besides, if someone here knows what they are doing- they probably frequent a dedicated oc site. And dont forget the #1 rule : If you don't know what it does, don't **** with it. Offence # 1 : I refered many times to the OC section of EVGA where the top world overclokers are giving advices to beginners like me... OC'ing isn't that difficult. This is a very good guide for dummies that will take you step by step to higher frequencies: http://www.evga.com/forums/tm.asp?m=716108 Go slowly and watch your temps Offence # 2 : I told sshant to read again and again guides and to fully understand what he's doing and why. -Read again and again Shansmi's guide,it's the best one I've found for i7. Just kidding,no offence at all. We're just trying to help sshant to get the best from his hardware.... Edited June 12, 2009 by dawestsides [/url]My MAKS 2015 Pictures
sshantt Posted June 12, 2009 Author Posted June 12, 2009 Thanks for the concern darthelvis but i read alot of OC dedicated forums, websites and manual. BTW Im stuck between TRUE and xigmaitek Thors hammer [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
airtom Posted June 19, 2009 Posted June 19, 2009 First of all, turn the hyperthreading off. It's useless Intel feature, unless an application is coded to use it. I don't really know such an application... Then use DcsMax to spread load over all cores. You'll see performance boost...
Mr Pink Posted January 22, 2010 Posted January 22, 2010 i have a new rig i7 920 @ 4 ghz 6 gb corsair ddr3 rampage 2 extreme motherboard xfx 5870 pioneer blue ray velociraptor's x 2 total 600 gb running on a 22inch monitor at 1680 x 1050, all settings up max, water, visibility and the like in CCC everything up max aswell frame rates range from 20-70 depending on whats going on, affinity set to all 8 cores and the like. wasnt expecting mind numbing FPS when i built new computer for this game anyway
Sarge55 Posted January 22, 2010 Posted January 22, 2010 I find a program that shuts down background processes a boost for FPS since many of them use CPU resources. It's call "Game Booster" http://www.iobit.com/gamebooster.html give it a try. 1 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] i7 10700K OC 5.1GHZ / 500GB SSD & 1TB M:2 & 4TB HDD / MSI Gaming MB / GTX 1080 / 32GB RAM / Win 10 / TrackIR 4 Pro / CH Pedals / TM Warthog
StrongHarm Posted January 22, 2010 Posted January 22, 2010 Thanks for the link Sarge55! Did some research and was able to double framerates, decrease CPU usage, and increase visual quality. Check observations here http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=813902#post813902 It's a good thing that this is Early Access and we've all volunteered to help test and enhance this work in progress... despite the frustrations inherent in the task with even the simplest of software... otherwise people might not understand that this incredibly complex unfinished module is unfinished. /light-hearted sarcasm
26-J39 Posted January 22, 2010 Posted January 22, 2010 Yes indeed a neat little app.. thx Sarge55 Also check out: Advanced System Care.. Made by the same mob & also free.:)
funkee Posted January 22, 2010 Posted January 22, 2010 (edited) Maybe you need more RAM? Just kidding ;) Try disabling antialiasing and vertical sync, set water detail to medium, try Windows7 X64, overclock your CPU. thats all i can suggest. I think the bottleneck in your system is CPU which running too slow for DCS. Im getting much better framerate with my old good Core2Duo E8400 (3GHz default) O/C'd to 4GHz. each 1 GHz = at least 10-15 fps boost, so getting such speed you should be fine. O/C-ing is not so difficult thing, you just have to find correct voltage for your processor frequency, and set correct divider for RAM. For example my settings are 445 (FSB) x9 (multipler) = 4000 MHz, CPU voltage 1.46875 and divider set to 2,4 what result 1066 MHz for my memory (445 MHz x 2.4 = 1068 MHz). Just try, this is not so easy to damage/burn your CPU, and results may be suprising. If you send me your system specs (default FSB, max multipler, RAM frequency etc.) maybe I could help you with overclicking. good luck. Sarge55 Posted January 23, 2010 Posted January 23, 2010 You're welcome. Yes, ASC is handy for keeping your rig cleaned up and tuned especially for free.
