Yes again! In desperation I've resorting to bringing this subject up again.

Before anyone post links to videos I've must have seen them all. All of which are 5 years old.

I can now go through the routine in my sleep but still no joy.

I even have a double throw switch assigned to Starter power and clutch so the change from in and out is instantaneous. Nuffin. No sound of inertia wind up just the sound of me gently sobbing.

Using Win/Home goes through it beautifully. Hey! I do it like that but a little more sedately.

Should I throw it away and put it down to experience?

Or is it broken somehow?

Sorry I haven't replied. I rather gave up on it. In fact external power was something I tried to bring up but the normal \ key had no effect. So I wasn't able to try it. Maybe the question ought to have been '\ key not working in i-16'

I've watched many tutorials and not one of them has mentioned external power.

Post a track?

Like I explained, The \ key doesn't work in the I-16 but is does on other planes. So, I assigned a button to the \. Now, when I press my hardware button the Communication  Menu appears and I'm able to get ground power.

I don't see how I can make a video/track of that. 😉

Just gave it a try, and on my DCS the \ key works fine on the I-16 ... maybe you should try a repair, or there is some other software conflicting, like Vaicom or similar.

Glad that you found a workaround

I used  to record videos with the nVidia Experience utility, but its last update was the last drop for me and so I ditched it and now I'm recording with the Steam Utility:

For work: iMac mid-2010 of 27" - Core i7 870 - 6 GB DDR3 1333 MHz - ATI HD5670 - SSD 256 GB - HDD 2 TB - macOS High Sierra

For Gaming: 34" Monitor - Ryzen 3600 - 32 GB DDR4 2400 - nVidia RTX2080 - SSD 1.25 TB - HDD 10 TB - Win10 Pro - TM HOTAS Cougar

Mobile: iPad Pro 12.9" of 256 GB

like Vaicom or similar.
Just to be pedantic.
VAICOM doesn't use keybinds and won't interfere with those, not that it support I-16 anyway, as it doesn't have a radio.

Edit: You can use Steam to record non-Steam games too? Nice. I've switched to the Nvidia app, (points imaginative name ), which will probably succeed Experience. It's in Beta.

I don't see how I can make a video/track of that
Because I can take over the track and see if it works on my end.
Happy you solved it!

EDIT: Something dawned on me. I was not a asking for a video. When you quit a mission you have a button called "Save Track". It creates a mission file and everything you did in the game. Just drag and drop it into a post in the future. It's a real neat way of troubleshooting.

Hi All. Just download the i-16 trial, for the second time now. I like it in IL2 Great battles.

I am probably going to give it up definitely with it for DCS; main reason again is i cannot get around getting the gear up and down.

A lot of  the present keyboard functions don't seem to work neither, like E for war emergency engine power.

Also cannot figure out how to change payload to rockets. This module seems still quite unfinished business.

THIS WORKS, solution from McShetty's post elsewhere:

G (Landing gear next state) will cycle through the 4 settings which is a combination of 2 other settings: Direction and lock. They can be done individually if you chose.

To raise:

1. Press G. It will say, "gear up ready". Direction = up, unlocked.

2. Hold LCtl+G (Landing gear handle, Up) until the handle stops. 42 turns so a long time.

3. Press G, It will say, "gear up fin". Direction = up, unlocked. This stage does seem to do anything since there's no up and locked.

To lower:

1. Press G, It will say, "gear down ready". Direction = down, unlocked.

2. Hold LShift+g (Landing gear handle, Down) until the handle stops.

3. Press G, It will say, "gear down fin". Direction = down, locked.

For the Warthog Throttle  some buttons that function well when yo select (prepare) the 'ready' G-press function:

Setup some buttons on my throttle for G, Up, and Down. Also it moves up/down the same but noticeably the more it comes up the slower it goes so the speed is not linear. Also that curved tube across the edge of the cockpit is the gear indicator.

(Seems like the speed of the i-16 has influence on the speed of the gear up down function.)
