markturner1960 Posted December 15, 2024 Posted December 15, 2024 We have made a training mission, carrier based, with 2 hot and 2 cold start spawns. When there are 2 of us starting, we are both directed to CAT1, when all other catapults are empty ......why is this? In reality, I understand this scenario ( pairs takeoff) would get one jet launched from CAT1, the other from CAT3 and the other pair from 2 & 4 after the first pair has taken off... Are the deck crew supposed to follow this logic? If not can someone say how it would work please for say 2, 3, 4 jet take offs. And can the AI handle 4 jets simultaneously? grim_reaper68 Posted December 15, 2024 Posted December 15, 2024 Take a look at the new doc, it' explains the taxiing logic to the cat.
markturner1960 Posted December 15, 2024 Author Posted December 15, 2024 If what we have experienced is how its supposed to be, then that is just wrong surely? Why queue someone behind an occupied catapult when there is a free one to use and why not program it so it works like in reality, which is what we are trying to simulate here? 1 System specs: PC1 :Scan 3XS Ryzen 5900X, 64GB Corsair veng DDR4 3600, EVGA GTX 3090 Win 10, Quest Pro, Samsung Odyssey G9 Neo monitor.
Nealius Posted December 16, 2024 Posted December 16, 2024 What were your spawn points? When I am spanwed next to another client on Elevator 2, I am sent to CAT1 and he is sent to CAT2.
markturner1960 Posted December 16, 2024 Author Posted December 16, 2024 Without checking on Tacview- I think we were both on the elevators in front of the island System specs: PC1 :Scan 3XS Ryzen 5900X, 64GB Corsair veng DDR4 3600, EVGA GTX 3090 Win 10, Quest Pro, Samsung Odyssey G9 Neo monitor.
markturner1960 Posted December 16, 2024 Author Posted December 16, 2024 (edited) So, I have been studying the manual as advised several times, and its still not clear......I list below the spawn slots and the catapults they are directed to as best as I can see from the manuals drawing. It is NOT clear as there are statics over intersection points of several of the pathing routes.......so I would appreciate if someone from ED can confirm these and clarify the ones that are unclear ( indicated by question mark) First number is the spawn point, second number is the Catapult: 0 > 1 ? 1 > 2 2 > 3 3 > 4 4 > 1 ? 5 > 2 6 > 3 7 > 4 8 > 1 9 > 2 10 > 2 ? 11 > 1 ? 12 > 2 ? 13 > 1 14 > 3 15 > 4 And some questions: ....( I will have further questions relating to spawns and catapults as soon as these are confirmed definitively) 1) If you place a static over any of those spawn points, that point is skipped and you will spawn on the next one...? 2) In the manual drawing, is the first spawn point ( 4 jets behind cat 1 , parked diagonally) zero , then 1,2,3 ? Why have a point zero? seems strange....1 being first generally!!! Again, its unclear from the drawing, but as I can account for all the other numbers 1 - 15..... 3) How does starting Hot or cold affect which slot you spawn in? I have a mission with 12 client slots. First player in always spawns in spot zero. If you then change slot, you spawn in slot 4....so why does it skip slots 1, 2 & 3? Next player in seems to spawn in slot 5. In relation to the original question, both of us seem to then be directed to cat 1. I have statics placed on spawn points10, 11, 12, 6, 7, 13, 14 Can post the mission if that will help..... caramel Posted December 16, 2024 Posted December 16, 2024 The only way to achieve logical behavior is to create groups of 4 aircraft in "take off from parking hot". In this case, the first group would spawn in slots 1 to 4, the second in slots 5 to 8, and the third in slots 9 to 12. The planes are then catapulted in order, using the four catapults. Otherwise, if you create groups of less than 4 aircraft, it becomes a real “mess”, and contrary to what the documentation says, the aircraft are not placed according to the mission editor's order, but completely at random. In short, there's absolutely no logic to it (and the doc is wrong). 1 jE n'AiMe paS LeS maJusCuLes n'imPorte oÚ.
markturner1960 Posted December 16, 2024 Author Posted December 16, 2024 Thanks, when you say “groups” - does this apply only to AI flights? What about client slots? And does DCS recognise and account for unused client slots? Appreciate your help, but still hoping for more detailed answers to the specific questions above from someone in the team (or not) who knows System specs: PC1 :Scan 3XS Ryzen 5900X, 64GB Corsair veng DDR4 3600, EVGA GTX 3090 Win 10, Quest Pro, Samsung Odyssey G9 Neo monitor.
caramel Posted December 17, 2024 Posted December 17, 2024 I play solo, but the tests I've carried out show that the logic of the documentation is only respected with groups of 4 devices (all in AI or with one of the devices in “player”) and even then not always, it also depends on the type of device. In short, I hope you'll find the answers you're looking for (but I don't have too many illusions, DCS's AI is extremely ...............independent). jE n'AiMe paS LeS maJusCuLes n'imPorte oÚ.
