I am very new to this sim but not sims as a whole. I have spent many years on both FS sims as well as having flown real Heli and planes (only a few times though).

I am using a Saitek X52 Pro flight system (not pedals though, yet!!). I have found that trying to control the Heli is like trying to drive a bouncy castle. I find that I am yoyo'ing all over the place. I am only putting the smallest of inputs into the stick and yet it is all over the place. My frame rate seems smooth although I do not know what the actual figure is so I am ruling out actually flying the sim 20 frames behind real time and then over compensating.

I want this sim to work for me because since the demise of Jane's Longbow I have been without a great Heli sim/game. Did I read somewhere that a Longbow add-on is being worked on for this sim?

Anybody have any suggestions??

I don't know if you can calibrate that stick, but if you can, make sure it's calibrated. Otherwise, the only thing I can think of is go into the control settings and under axis commands go to your joystick axes and hit tune axis to see what it's doing and adjust it.

Also might try unloading your current X52 profile?

I had the same problem when I switched to the X52 pro. I almost thought oh my god I lost all my flying skillz! BUt then I just turned down the sensitivity and tada: Everything under control again. ;)

The Longbow is not a candidate for DCS to simulate. There are plans (hopes?) to simulate the A-model Apache after the A-10C module is done, but that's not set in stone, and very little work has been done on it.

Did you turn it down 'in-game' or elsewhere?

In the controls part of the options screen you can select an axis (under Axis Commands dropdown menu), and once you have the screen for that axis up you can click an option called "axis tune" or something similar.

It might be possible to tweak sensitivities in the windows control panel as well.

Another point to test, though, is to see if your computer is erroneously registering your sticks range of motion. When you start a mission, but before you've unpaused it (or if cold-starting, before you've touched anything else) move the stick through it's full range of motion. This should ensure that the computer isn't thinking that the little bit you've moved the stick is actually full inputs. (My Saitek Cyborg does that for the collective sometimes.)

EDIT: Also, verify that the three standard AP dampers (roll, yaw, pitch) are active. In real life, flying the Ka-50 without those on is punishable unless they have failed - and them failing is considered an emergency situation where you are to head home and get repairs.
