solved New Hard drive and transfer issues

Hello..
Kept getting a message that there wasn't enough space to install the latest update.  So bought a new external hard drive (SSD 4TB) and now can't seem to transfer the game from the old drive (E Drive, external) to the new drive (G Drive).

Do I need to just upload the game from the website and then download all the modules?  And worried about all the stuff I have on the original drive (planes, skins, mods, missions.. )

You really just have to move the whole DCS install folder to another drive. With enough space. And then run a repair. Might want to check your shortcuts. They should be repaired/updated. While I'm not sure that works.

Ah! NO, you don't lose anything in Saved Games. And I assume that's on your C drive anyway, unless you explicitly moved it the correct way. One cannot move Saved Games wrong, well one can, 'cause then it stops working. If you have mods and skins in the core installation folder, which I assume you don't. You should use a mod manager for those. And then you just need to re-target the mod manager.
Have you tried to copy/move the game from E to G? Don't really understand why it won't let you, but that will be a Windows thing. If you do decide to run the installer AGAIN, the installer, which technically is the Updater, will pull everything it needa from the old installation, and you will end up with two installations.

Make sure your key bindings are saved and safe before doing or you will be spending a week binding keys etc.

And the FAIL continues.  
Loaded the game all over.  Now in G Drive.  Have Icon on home screen
When I click it to start, get an error  msg-
Code is 0x c0000142.

same thing that happens on the the other icons that have a path to either E (not enough space to update) or F (moved the E drive to F that has more space!)

When I go to the Path on the Icon for (G) -
Target "G:\DCS World\bin\DCS_updater.exe"

So.. will I ever get this game back up and running?
Have bought all the terrains, half the planes and some campaigns.  Very Frustrating.

I moved the smaller drive to a bigger drive (E to F).. but how do I do a "repair"?

I've also started a troubleshooting ticket!
Weird but- when it tells me to upload a "Log", the date on the log in from 29 Dec.. not yesterday or today.

Boy, did something get messed up! lol
(big picture with what is going on in the world.. LA, Ukraine, Middle East.. not that big of a problem)

But she was a source of distraction and need her back!  Glad I didn't buy MSFS2024 yet either~

Try running DCS.exe directly from the Eagle Dynamics\DCS\bin folder. 

So, you first try to copy from E to F, then do another install in G?

Open a command prompt and browse to the Path I wrote above the run

DCS_updater.exe repair

This can also be done through the Launcher, if it starts. 

Personally, use Skatezilla's excellent GUI Updater/Launcher app.

personally my thoughts right now would be a complete new install. Download Revo Uninstaller and delete DCS, also make sure you delete the registry files on the Revo uninstaller for DCS and start again mate.

Unless he deliberately deletes Saved Games, that won't happen.

Not really because you can still bind the controls and not save them and they will still be fine when he comes to boot up DCS again. He needs to save them individually as keyboard, stick, throttle etc it's only when you hit a brick wall you really need to save them profiles. I don't think he's to bothered in all fairness and wants to be able to play the sim. Catastrophic failure on this thread in my eyes so VERY CLEAN install is on the cards I recon.

I never bother to export them individually. Waste of time honestly. I just backup my complete Saved Games and import the diffs if I need to. When you press "OK", you save.

Seems like it. Nothing a repair can't fix though. Slow Repair = Clean vanilla install, Yes, it is! (Except for whatever error there could be in Saved Games, which is not the case here).

So..  Saturday Morning and I'm actually kinda back up and running!
Thank You everyone for the help.
Turns out Alex Maximov responded to my ticket and told me to reload Microsoft Visual C++ and for some reason, that did the trick!
However.. not with a few other issues.  Still could not get the F Drive to update.  Would fail every time I tried. 
So, clean loaded the game into the new G Drive and works.  But- had to download EVERY module again.  Took a while.  Weird thing was that some of them were being transferred from the E Drive?
Either way, everything is now there (But get a message that my authentication for Supercarrier is not valid?!) and when I went to missions, my old missions I built and downloaded were there too!  SCORE
Not sure how or why, but I'm kinda back up.
Now the next fun thing-
Bought a Reality Motion Sim P3 and will have to get that all up and running.  Used the Quest 2 last year for VR but will be planning on going with a new VR headset sometime this year.

Seriously, you guys are the best and as an old guy who is sometimes technology0 challenged, great to come here and get answers.  Owe you ALL a Bier~

Yeah, like I wrote. DCS, if settings/registry is correct. It will get the files from other installations, so it doesn't have to re-download everything, which would be unnecessary.

If that still happens after a repair I suspect your Anti-Virus solution snatch an important file, and hence it will be disabled. It will be a false positive due to the encryption ED uses to protect from piracy. Make sure you exclude Saved Games and the DCS core installation folders in your Anti-Virus solution. Du a full repair after, and you should be future proofed.

So.. after ups and downs, it's almost back to normal.
Just when I thought it was good.. lost SuperCarrier and more of my planes.

Turns out (thanks to Alex) the issue was the interface between McAfee AntiVirus scan and the game.
So, now it's almost back to normal. 
Also removed the E & F external Drives.

Question though- when I go to Instant Action, should I see Supercarrier as an option?
Only when I go to Missions, does SC show up. Then I can choose it and it seems it's all F18's.
No Instant action from the F4, F18 or AV8B side of the house?

Cold outside so slowly getting back into this game~

if you browse to the DCS game folder, in my case, C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World OpenBeta\Mods\tech\Supercarrier\Missions\Single, there are several that have supercarrier. mostly recoveries.

also in DCS User Files do a search / filter for FA-18 and F-14

these filters have supercarrier within the list.
