Dear ED,

I would like to ask you to consider adding more Iraq assets please.

 - For the starters, could we have more current game assets made available to Iraq faction please? I know some of them may not be realistic for Iraq, but we have to use something anyway and therefore to build mission Combined Task Force Red/Blue is required.

 - It would be amazing to have more Iraq specific stuff as well - such us some bunkers, shelters, barracks, power plants, factory buildings and similar.

 - P15/18 Radar - Bar Lock Radar - I know these been mentioned elsewhere multiple times as requests and it would be amazing to have them...

Thank you in advance for considering these suggestions.

Or even IFA trucks from East Germany in service both in Iraq and Iran.

Ah yes - good old IFA trucks... It would be nice to get them as well... Especially if Fulda Gap/Central Europe/Cold War map would materialise.

Thank you for the cool photos!

Also, it would be nice to add liveries for aircrafts and helicopters in current and previous Iraqui Air Force's assets. I've found some on user files, but missing for example current F16

Good luck, I doubt we will see any assets added for any map by ED. We basically have the same units from the original game. Mods are going to be your best option. Hopefully a modmaker will take up your request.

Gotta love those BTR-80s driving around during the Yom Kippur War!

(different map, I know)

I know it would be low/no priority thing on their list to do. Hopefully someday(tm) it will happen. That is why in the meantime I asked for more existing assets to be added to Iraq faction. I know BTR80 or 1L131 EWR is not realistic for them for the period - however it is better than nothing and from 20000ft it looks close enough for government work... 😄

Modders do great work overall and I tip my hat for their skills and knowledge on the subject, but personally I stay away from mods because of how little time I can spare on DCS, staying vanilla, kept me mostly trouble free. I simply do not have time to tinker with mods.

Perhaps making room for official modding community (similar to Arma) would be the solution for ED - I am sure I have seen this asked on this forum before (cannot find it now).

Personally, I would be happy to buy professionally done assets packs either made by ED or third party, as long they are working without tinkering and are maintained.

Logic suggests, that if and when we get dynamic campaign - some assets will have to be updated, expanded and moved around - as currently a lot of factions aside from Russian/Soviet Union and maybe Iran, they are quite incomplete, and I have to use combined red instead. Sure, same probably would work on dynamic campaign, but it would be nice to have realistic and accurate assets for the faction.

You're correct. It has been asked many times, and it's the way to go.

Same here, while others will claim "it splits the community"! Have paid high resolution packs then, and release very low resolution for free? I'd pay for sure.

i can understand your position. but i would highly recommend Currenthills mod´s. they are on a high standard and i think more will come in the future.. just threw them in the  mod folder and if you didnt want them anymore just delete. for me his mods are high valuable for doing my own missions and i enjoy them a lot

currenthill is very talented, I've seen his mods. They are amazing. Certainly, on the level that I would be happy to pay for. I have monumental respect for his skills and knowhow.

He does however produce modern assets, and I am more after 1950 - 2000's (which for Iraq would be mostly 1960-1980's) tech.

yes thats true they are modern, we still have this problem also for afghanistan, there are really no basic assets to create historic correct missions. for me would be a dream come true to create realistic FOB operations with CAS in northern afghanistan with german and american forces alongside with ANP and ANA forces. i served there 2009 so it would be totally cool to create thos missions.

and yes same for IRAQ desert storm 1 and 2 and ongoing Iraq war on the insurgend side which i am very interested.

and for this my hope is into modders honestly. i dont think we will see all thos assets very soon. maybe some insurgent assets from ED which we saw in some trailers.

but all we can do is wait and see 😄

Another big problem is that missions makers often try to make their missions with as few mod dependencies as possible. If assets were included in the vanilla base game, using them would be much more accessible. E.g. imagine a mission or even campaign maker invests dozens or even hundreds of hours to make a campaign and then the asset mod isn't work on anymore. The whole mission could be broken!

This! It's not that they are not doing this already. And yes, I would pay for HD asset packs, too!

This is why I am staying away from mods and why I placed this topic in the "wish list" 😅

I am not qualified to comment on "splitting community" issue as I am pretty much SP most of the time and hardly ever fly paid campaigns (They are amazing, but again - I have no time...)

In the end, creating high quality assets takes time and effort, not to mention keeping up with base game updates to maintain them working. Sounds like full time job - one that deserves fair pay. Some would buy dedicated Gulf War Themed assets, others would go for Early Cold War stuff, Vietnam War, WW2, Korean War or any other available.

Since these are mostly overlapping Soviet Era equipment with slight variations in performance - it would be probably relatively easy to "mass produce them" just like their real live counterparts were 😁. I would buy them all, even though I am mostly hooked on 1990's to early 2000's era.

I don't see any new assets being added to the entire game by ED. The best they did is a paid WW2 pack and add a modder's assets. Other than the Normandy WW2 map and Caucus map the game is missing large amounts of equipment for nations represented in maps being sold. I don't see how any dynamic campaign will be created for maps other than for Caucus and Normandy. The rest of the maps do not contain more than a sprinkling, if any, of equipment used by the nations represented on the map. Not sure what the impediment to creating assets is other than lack of return on investment. But at the rate some of the modders are able to pump out mods I would think the effort on a dedicated resource would be small except for maybe creating the 3D object and painting it.

Modders seems to be centered on tomorrows unit and no Cold War units are being produced AFAIK. I've found this, will need some small 3d and texture work in order to be usable in Iraq, but would not mind getting it If a modder can add them to DCS.
