Kuky Posted July 13, 2009 Posted July 13, 2009 Anyone know if it's possible to get rid of the texture of the two forward antennas when siting in Su-25 cockpit? I made some changed to this mod and used Russian MiG-29A slot instead and Su-25A cockpit... if someone knows what file to edit to get rid of the antennas that would be great :) And thanks for your work Beczl... About the texture files I am after I think they don't need to be TGA as even if I could just use same color of MiG-21 skin they would blend in. I'm hoping someone knows what file they are in? Vekkinho Posted July 14, 2009 Posted July 14, 2009 You may address this question to our lead designer Acgaen. Okay, thanks for the hint ... BTW it'd be great from ED to ask for some models in case they need it. Like in a way of inviting tenders so more 3D model teams or artists can apply and start creating specific 3D model and finally ED decides which one fits the DCS standard and will be included in the next patch, module or update! Same thing is done in modern military (F-23 vs F-22 tender) and the best option gets selected! So if ED needs a F/A-18E/F in a next module many modelers can start their projects competing eachother in order to get their model being selected by ED! Just my 2 cents but might be productive! Dolphin887 Posted July 14, 2009 Posted July 14, 2009 LUA script v2.0 for the Beczl's MiG-21bis Please download and overwrite the old mig21.lua script with this improved and debugged version (2.0). This is the LUA script for Beczl's Mig-21 for improved realism; the script has been tested both in single-player and multiplayer games. Here is the list of implemented improvements: *************************************************************************** FLIGHT DYNAMICS REALISM IMPROVEMENTS 1. The script correctly recognizes the MiG-21bis plane and activates only if the pilot chooses MiG-21bis. It will not interfere with other plane types. 2. If you put an orange smoke generator on pylon 8, the script will turn smoke generation on/off depending on the throttle settings (<75% off, >75% and <95% on, >95% off). You will be able to see the simulated exhaust smokes. 3. The script will generate “shaking view” effect in following conditions: - throttle >80% AND - altitude AG <300m OR g load > 5.5 In order to actually see this effect, you need to have cockpit mouse instruction set to CockpitMouse = true in View.lua file located in \Ubisoft\Eagle Dynamics\Lock On\Config\View folder 4. The engine maximal power setting is limited to closely match MiG-21bis engine performance. With this script, afterburner won't fire at full power, it will fire only for limited time and with minimal thrust. 5. If you have fuselage fuel tank, you won’t be able to extend the air-brakes until you jettison the tank. 6. If the pilot pulls more than 5.8g with the fuselage fuel tank installed, the tank will drop-off. Unfortunately, due to LO code this can only happen if the wings are in near level position (e.g. entering the loop). 7. Maximal AoA is limited to 28 degrees. For very short time pilot can go beyond 28 degrees but with some difficulties in airplane control. 8. Maximal G-load is limited to 7.7g. In reality, max. allowed G load is 8, but in LO 7.7 is closer reality match. Like in 3. the pilot can go beyond 7.7 for short time. 9. The script calculates the engine stress: the engine is stressed if - the pilot force the engine beyond it's limit for >10 seconds, - the pilot flies the plane beyond IAS or Ma limits for >10 seconds, - the pilot flies with the negative g (e.g. inverted) for >10 seconds, - the pilot forces the plane to climb beyond certain altitude (21.000m / 64.000 ft) In case of the engine stress, the engine will shut-down. The script then calculates the time needed to recover the engine and enable the restart. The more pilot insist on stressing the engine, the more time will be needed for the engine to recover. 10. The script will sense following hard-limits: - maximum altitude 21.000m (if exceeded the engine will shut-down), - maximum IAS and Ma (if exceeded the engine will try to decrease power first, and after some time - if speed is not reduced - it will shut down). 11. Script is able to sense landing and give instruction for drogue-chute to be released. However, this doesn't work due to LO code. 12. The script will collect some data during the flight which will be written in a MiG21bis.log file at the mission exit (the log file is located in \Ubisoft\Eagle Dynamics\Lock On\Temp folder): - type of the plane - if it is not MiG-21bis the script will write "Main aircraft is not MiG-21bis - attempting to confirm this..." - Highest IAS (km/h) - Highest Ma - Highest altitude (m) - Highest G - Highest Alpha (AoA) - *** FINAL REMARKS on exit *** - IAS (on exit) - Altitude above ground level (on exit) ************************************************************************ WEAPON SECTION OF THE SCRIPT - I will try to implement some real limitations but this is going to be hard since LUA interface is not supporting much of the weaponry functionalities. *********************************************************************** Regards. THE SCRIPT:mig21bis.zip 1 Power through superb knowledge, training and teamwork. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
beczl Posted July 14, 2009 Author Posted July 14, 2009 Did You say Finnish? Cant get rid of white edges on bitmap joints thou. You can suck it from here: http://www.sendspace.com/file/r3yr19 Could you send me your finnish skin psd? I checked your skin. It seems you use the older psd template, or your lightmap layer isn't a correct position. 1
czarnyolek Posted July 14, 2009 Posted July 14, 2009 I did not save it in PSD format. Once i finnished with it i saved as BMP and closed template without overriting original file. My template files are dated at 20.06.2009 Funny that i used very same templates for this one and no white edge effect occured:

Kuky Posted July 14, 2009 Posted July 14, 2009 Beczl, are you plannnig on maybe working more on this model? Would it be possible and not too hard to have it modified to get few extra markings/numberings positions on the model (would like for example only 3 number on the nose and small numbering on the tail)? PC specs: Windows 11 Home | Asus TUF Gaming B850-Plus WiFi | AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D + LC 360 AIO | MSI RTX 5090 LC 360 AIO | 55" Samsung Odyssey Gen 2 | 64GB PC5-48000 DDR5 | 1TB M2 SSD for OS | 2TB M2 SSD for DCS | NZXT C1000 Gold ATX 3.1 1000W | TM Cougar Throttle, Floor Mounted MongoosT-50 Grip on TM Cougar board, MFG Crosswind, Track IR

Would it be possible and not too hard to have it modified to get few extra markings/numberings positions on the model (would like for example only 3 number on the nose and small numbering on the tail)? Sorry no way. I'm on a long term business trip till december, and I don't able to run the LoFC on my laptop. By the way I'll try it, but in the past it had a conflict for the normal side numbers. For ex. The numbers are flickering. Could you past some pics what numbering position and letter type is need? :helpsmilie:
czarnyolek Posted July 15, 2009 Posted July 15, 2009 In this case one of your layer is moved a bit. Not very likely coz white edge appears on edge of all three fuselage bitmaps so i would have to have at least two of them moved and second and third fuselage bitmap are placed on the same template.
beczl Posted July 15, 2009 Author Posted July 15, 2009 As I recognise the mig21bis_texture_002 texture "panelline", "paint" and "lightmap" layers aren't a good position. Check the lightmap "dark effects" position. You can see the differences on the small air intake shadow, and the bottom of the plane or the flaps shadow on the fuselage. Your second Polish plane has no error. It caused the white edge effect. :-( I try to repaint the finnish texture based on your skin, but it won't so easy.
czarnyolek Posted July 15, 2009 Posted July 15, 2009 You might be right than. I'll try to fix it myself later on, so all finnish LO pilots would be able to have their skin alrite :)
Kuky Posted July 15, 2009 Posted July 15, 2009 (edited) ... Could you past some pics what numbering position and letter type is need? Numbering on the tail is 5 digit (first aircrat type Yugoslavian designation, followed by aircraft number on the nose. In this case tail number would be 17104) I know picture is not very good but you should be able to see number is positioned about middle of the tail (on both sides) just under the SFRJ flag insignia. Also both underneeth and on top of the wings the roundel is located only on left side (can be simply added on skin itself) but on the right hand side there is aircraft number, in this case it would be 104. One nice plastic model where you can see tail numbering position This picture shows aircraft number on the right hand side of the wings (also underside), only in this case the guy that made the model applied the decal wrong. The number should be parallel with rear edge of the wing So no biggie if you don't have time or this is too hard to add :D I'm happy is it is already ;) Edited July 15, 2009 by Kuky PC specs: Windows 11 Home | Asus TUF Gaming B850-Plus WiFi | AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D + LC 360 AIO | MSI RTX 5090 LC 360 AIO | 55" Samsung Odyssey Gen 2 | 64GB PC5-48000 DDR5 | 1TB M2 SSD for OS | 2TB M2 SSD for DCS | NZXT C1000 Gold ATX 3.1 1000W | TM Cougar Throttle, Floor Mounted MongoosT-50 Grip on TM Cougar board, MFG Crosswind, Track IR
Kuky Posted July 15, 2009 Posted July 15, 2009 Do i see bl-755 bombs on this foto? Yes, you see right, check this out from Wikipedia: On the night of 21 October 1991, a Yugoslavian MiG-21 dropped two BL-755 Mk.3 bombs on the outskirts of Barcs, a small city in southernmost part of Hungary, causing extensive material damage, but no casualties. Yeah I remember that. The pilot has a navigation problem and they attack a non-valid target.
Vekkinho Posted July 15, 2009 Posted July 15, 2009 (edited) Yeah, during the war in Yu there was many breaches of Hungarian airspace by Yugoslav airforce. However lot's of early Croatian armed forces called ZNG (Zbor Narodne Garde) were stationed on the other side of Drava river in a training camps in Hungary so perhaps pilot wasn't experiencing any navigational problems! Barcs (Hu) is on the other side of Drava river from Virovitica (Cro). So I wouldn't call it a non valid target! Lot's of Croatian arms smuggling in the 1990-1991 happened across Drava, our first fleet of Fishebds came flying NOE from Ukraine and entered Croatia from Hungary flying low over Drava so... OK just for the record, before we stray into Balkans politics! Edited July 15, 2009 by Vekkinho [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
beczl Posted July 15, 2009 Author Posted July 15, 2009 Yeah I remember that. The pilot has a navigation problem and they attack a non-valid target. There's an official version. :-) I stationed as a Recon/Guard section leader in near Barcs in 1992, so I heard probably a "true", different story about this incident. But that was almost 20years ago. :-)
