lobmobster Posted February 3 Posted February 3 does anyone know if optiscale is against the rules and if the anticheat detects it? I got fsr 3.1 working but I don't want to get banned I also use openkneeboard, but apparently a lot of people do that 1
speed-of-heat Posted February 3 Posted February 3 its not so much "banned" as depending on what it does you might not be able to join a multiplayer server ... I don't really know what the MOD is or does, but try it and see 2 SYSTEM SPECS: Hardware AMD 9800X3D, 64Gb RAM, 4090 FE, Virpil T50CM3 Throttle, WinWIng Orion 2 & F-16EX + MFG Crosswinds V2, Varjo Aero SOFTWARE: Microsoft Windows 11, VoiceAttack & VAICOM PRO YOUTUBE CHANNEL: @speed-of-heat
lobmobster Posted February 3 Author Posted February 3 I renamed one of the dll files in the game and added a bunch of files I downloaded; I also edited the windows registry but apparently I didn't have to. These files were for optiscale which reads some of the info required to implement dlss into the game, and uses this information to get fsr 3.1 working. Since there isn't a gui for it, you have to use the optiscale overlay to select what upscaler you want (fsr or xess are best because I don't have rtx card) and then select dlss in dcs world to get fsr working. dcs normally has fsr 1 so this mod looks a lot better, but I would definitely change the registry back before launching a game with anti cheat

lobmobster Posted February 9 Author Posted February 9 I think it's actually reverting to fsr 2 because of compatibility issues with direct x 11 but it does look better than fsr 1 in most aspects; you need optiscaler, it's free to download there's a video here I would try to avoid using the registry edit file that disables signature overides if you can; if you do need to run it, then there's another file next to it that should reverse the process you should run before playing other games; there is a slight chance anticheat will ban you if you leave the registry modified 1
Tordox Posted February 9 Posted February 9 Thanks mate ...I think it could be a small step forward for AMD users on DCS anyway... 1 i7 10700k, 32gb ram, z590, 6800xt, G2
lobmobster Posted July 6 Author Posted July 6 (edited) update, a newer version of optiscaler can do fsr 3 in DCS now; it doesn't look as good as msaa, but it's way better than the in game fsr; still testing it, but so far the amount of performance boost seems to depend on what other settings are mixed in I used the nexus mods site to get pre9; apparently there's a newer one but I couldn't find it. And the Git hub one didn't work for me Edited July 6 by lobmobster
Nate--IRL-- Posted July 8 Posted July 8 I've just pulled the trigger on a 9070 XT - would be very interested to know how you get on with the testing the newer versions. Nate Ka-50 AutoPilot/stabilisation system description and operation by IvanK- Essential Reading

Nate You'll like the 9070XT. I came from a 3070 and I love this thing. Optiscaler works really well, although I found that just using the Adrenalin stuff was pretty nice too. The Adrenalin frame generation is pretty fantastic, I'd never have expected to even consider it something I'd like but it made the game incredibly smooth. I have turned all the Adrenalin stuff off for now as I'm testing the current version of OptiFG and I'm pretty happy with that so far. 1
lobmobster Posted July 10 Author Posted July 10 I'm gonna be honest, I'm kind of salty with amd because they wrote fsr 4 in fp16 and ignored fp8; fsr 4 doesn't work on 7000 series, so if they were gonna write an upscaler in fp16, why did they give me fp8? Was it simply no planned? AFMF is fantastic for air to ground because slow and smooth motion makes frame generation easy, I spotted and identified targets much better with afmf on; but if you play in VR then AFMF does nothing, so turn it off. I do wish fsr 3 and 4 get implemented into the game properly; every time I update the game optiscaler stops working and I gotta fix it. Also, the dcs folder has some kind of read only property so if you want to save your settings in optiscaler, you have to remove the ini file from that folder, edit it, and then put it back.
lobmobster Posted July 11 Author Posted July 11 houston we have a problem I noticed that I was unable to change my LOD settings; after repairing my build which removes optiscaler, it started working again; before I was only able to spot infantry at 1.3km, and maxing out LOD did not fix; after the repair and LOD increase, I could spot them beyond 2km. This raises more questions, was optiscaler to blame? If I set my LOD before I install optiscaler am I good to go? Who knows
lobmobster Posted 48 minutes ago Author Posted 48 minutes ago can confirm optiscaler wasn't the problem; I even edited the settings file and set LOD to 4 and saw an improvement; I guess LOD bug is just a common unrelated issue
