Unstable platform to update on (MS.Net framework pop-up)

Haven’t used the PC for a while, I don’t wanna update DCS as I’ve got a persistent pop-up.

It says an “Unhandled exception has occurred in your application” There’s something about “CCXProcess.exe bad image” too and “c windows system32 vcruntime140.dll” that keeps popping up. I looked them up but find different reasons and fixes, some advising a complete re-install of Windows and everything else. I really can’t be arsed with all of that, especially if it may not be a fix.

Anyone able to make any sense out of it for me, please do. I’ve run virus scans but it’s a persistent bugger.

cheers for lookin.

Without your system info and event description it's really difficult to diagnose all the issues. CCXProcess (Creative Cloud Experience Process) is related to Adobe, search their forums for the procedure, probably reinstall that bloated unstable piece of software. (better disable CCX from startup programs)

Vcruntime140 is C++, probably missing or corrupted, reinstall Microsoft Visual C++ 2015 - 2022 Redistributable, you can find the installers in ..\DCS World\distr folder, you can also download them from MS.

For the sake of it, run a SFC /SCANNOW from CMD.

Cheers both of ya, I’ll follow your advice, see how I get on.

Apologies for the lack of detail. A long winded system running in the first place. I’m on a Mac, running bootcamp (drivers to run Windows). Windows 10, i7, 32gb.

In the event, on booting up I get the pop-ups, I can close em after a few goes but I know something needs sorting out so didn’t wanna install the DCS update til I clear it.

I’ll have a look when I’m back to it and follow up here, hopefully with my flying hat n goggles on again 🙂, cheers.

Hmmm no joy,

I tried repairing and reinstalling the MS visual things but still got the popups. I uninstalled them and rebooted, then reinstalled it again. I rebooted and they’re still popping up.

I’m baffled. I ran the scannow from cmd as well. It had found some dodgy bits and removed or repaired them but they’re still at it.

Opened a ticket and got a reply but now I can't reply to that somehow? I keep hitting send but it won't have it.

In case support's lookin in...

Thanks Special K, I was happy to see your post as it sounded like a simple fix.

I opened the .exe and it asked to repair so I did that. When that was done, I opened it again and let it install.

After a reboot I still get the popups. I'm having trouble uploading screenshots as well both to support and now on the forum. I managed to upload this screenshot by first disabling windows security. Not a lot's going well anywhere at the minute.

Grateful for the help as I'm easily baffled with these things.

This (above) still pops up on my desktop after I installed the thing today. It's taking ten minutes to upload an image here that's 435kb? Odd.

All change please, all change, 🤪

I gave up and wiped the drive altogether.

Freshly installed Win10 and I've spent hours (2 days) trying to reinstall DCS with all my modules, terrain and all the bits. I've had to make exceptions for folders in Windows Defender just to install DCS. I've had to pick away one by one installing almost everything and I've almost got there. I've one left, the Kiowa.

So far as I can tell I've installed all the maps, all the props and all the jets. The Helis have taken all afternoon to install one by one and I've had to do long repairs of DCS to install anything afterwards. PITS isn't the word for it. No, it isn't, that was a typo, meant to be PITA. - It's been both and I'm still stuck trying to squeeze the Kiowa back in it's hangar.

I haven't flown for days. Not even sure anything's actually installed yet so maybe I'll try something out. After another hour of messing with bindings no doubt. I moved my Saved Games folder, (oh yeah, I had to look up Rudels help page again thanks) and I've made exceptions for anything smelling of DCS for the AV but this Kiowa doesn't wanna come home to roost.

Any ideas most welcome, bit baffled over here,

cheers for looking.

Well, I tried getting the Kiowa installed for four hours.

I just wondered, joked, about maybe I should take the Chinny or something out of the hangar to try and squeeze in the Kiowa. Har har n all that but would you believe IT WORKED! I 'disabled' the Chin, installed the Kiowa and have just re-enabled the Chinny, now everything's installed at last and I just have to sort out my bindings.

Make sense of that. 🤪.

I'll thank everyone for trying to along the way and let support carry on with what they were doing... Until next time 🙂
