Is there a way to get lights to show up further out?

I can't see navigation lights until I'm already pretty close or zoom in (which requires knowing where to look, which defeats some of the purpose). Is there any setting I can change to get lights to appear from further out? That'd make it much easier to spot tankers, wingmates and runway lights.

Nav lights are part of the 3D external model of aircraft, which means they disappear with the distance. What aircraft are we talking about?

Well, runways.

But besides that: KC-135s and F-16s

Thank you, I'll check these aircraft compared to others.

Generally speaking, if you set Visibility setting to the max in DCS, if a light happens to disappear too quickly, it's model-related, which means a change has to be done on the 3D model of the object.

Not needed. They are all "broken", or WIP, or whatever.

Well, as I said, it's runway lights too, so you might as well check Kutaisi while you're at it.

But I'll check my Visibility setting when I'm next able.

Yeah visibility range seems to have done it. Well, that and apparently tankers don't switch their lights on until you're nearly flying up their backsides...

0.5 nm from the tanker to be exact.

As for the tankers, you can have them turned on by default when using a custom livery by adding the following to the livery's `Description.lua` file:

custom_args = {
    [190] = 1.0,
    [191] = 1.0,
    [192] = 1.0
}

Problem is, after calling tanker, tanking and flying away, DCS turns the lights back off as per usual and they won't come back on until you are again within 0.5nm of it.  Super hard to join on it at night when you can't see it.

Keep in mind, this doesn't affect they way they look.  Anything greater than 1.5nm away and they glow super bright like UFO lights in VR as per usual.
