ST0RM Posted March 18 Author Posted March 18 Stoked to have these. I'll grab them when I get home this weekend. 1
Cydrych Posted March 19 Posted March 19 Nice skins. The texture is something I need to experiment with more. I haven't got it to look right yet. I also like the handprints on the tank. That's unique. I noticed a couple of small texture errors if you ever update them. They aren't noticeable unless you're really zoomed in. 0264 & 409 main 2 - roughness channel is missing the texture noise and the decals look like they are more rough (white) than the rest of the jet. Round decals near 264/409 on nose, left side has incorrect texture in metallic layer and right side is missing in metallic layer. Sealant line is also missing on the right side in metallic channel. 0264 main 1 serial on top is missing in roughness and metallic channels. And just my personal thoughts I think the normals on the pilot patches are too strong and degrade the patch texture by causing too much shadow. The right side patch needs moved up a little bit too. Other than that nice job! Release more please!

You wonder how stuff can slip through the cracks!? same with the static port decal. The patches won't change. I like them. I've experimented with many normals options over the years and I like the stronger effect. That's why they are the way they are! I think the the real reason that stuff gets washed out is because the patch texture is 512x512 and the quality of patch images available that we can find or can't find sometimes. So my personal preference is a stronger effect overall vs a minimal effect that holds some of the stitching pattern which, honestly, I never look at after I make them. LOL Half the time I wonder why I'm spending time on patches when most people won't be zoomed in enough to see the details and outside of taking screenshots for the mod page I'm never looking at them too. They don't look like they were drawn with crayons so you did a nice job either way, just voicing my opinion. You can scale the texture up. I noticed on one of Lee1hy's recent skins he had them at 1024x1024. The patch texture looked way better but again it is a small detail most people won't notice so why waste the VRAM on it?
Mach3DS Posted March 19 Posted March 19 (edited) Yeah I thought about doing that. But With the size of the download as it is, I figure it's such a small detail that literally only the deranged detail oriented people like me would even care. So I opted to save them space and vram. Really I'm just lazy and don't want to convert it. And .y ssd space just keeps going up so I'm stingy. LOL . So you get 512 patches. Have fun looking at them in formation. Haha. Turns out I accidentally turned off the speckle layer in the PSD for something else and forgot to turn it back on. My apologies. everything is fixed. So unfortunately, I'll throw up a fixed version. But for those that DL'd it you'll need to redownload both again. Sorry folks. Kind of a rookie mistake by an experienced guy. Lame-o. But is what it is. I'll throw up a post when it's uploaded and ready to DL again. Gracias. Edited March 20 by Mach3DS MACH 3 DESIGN STUDIO Heatblur Rivet Counting Squad™
