Well done ED, thats a much more detailed map, more interesting textures and the patchwork fields that friends have mentioned.

When I was younger I always wanted to visit Afghanistan, see the mountains.....it could have been so popular as a trekking destination. However, it is what it is, and it's a brilliant rendition. Looking forward to navigating my way around. A quick F-16 Trip, is not enough. Should have got my passport stamped at Jalalabad. lol

They have mistakenly labeled villages incorrectly. I hope everyone sees my post on the "Urgoon Heliport".

They're transliterations from another language - there is no 'correct spelling other than ارګون

Wikipedia:

Like many place names in Afghanistan, Urgun can be spelled a number of different ways. Orgun, Urgin, Urgum, Urgim, Urghim, Wargun, Warghun, Arghun, Urgon, and Orgon are the most popular alternative spellings.

Afghanistan looks so much better, both parts now look as good as Iraq and flying around the new part is really nice.

I'm not going to thank ED though as it was released in a really bad state and has taken 7 months to fix, it was a shame it was rushed at the release.

Indeed, Jabalia and Jabaliya are both correct for the Gazan refugee camp.

Yup there's been very noticeable improvement, but there is still a lot of work left to be done - I have only tested the original region by flying ED-supplied free-flight missions.
Some mountains could use some refinements on their mesh (lots of straight lines and sharp angles remain still), and the Kandahar region still sports ground textures that are a blurry mess which is so much more noticeable because of the sharp contrast with other textures right next to them that look pretty decent even at low level. There are small some areas too that likely have some terrain errors behind the scenes as overflying them is a stutter-fest. Luckily those areas are small and not very prevalent (can be reproduced by flying the F-16C runway start IA mission and staying at low-ish level).

Still I see some "patches" areas. This one from free flight of the Apache in Afganistan. But clearly is a much better product I think
