Rudel_chw Posted February 22 Posted February 22 Hi all, I have tried a wide variety of Cloud types for my mission's weather, but seems like none of them causes the kind of radar returns that we used to have, for example this is an image from Chuck's Guide: I can't get anything like that on my current mission (I'm trying to check the effect of the Weather Filter button). Has anyone else experienced this? Maybe the new clouds engine of DCS affects the MiG-21'a Radar algorithm? Also, the Filter for Low speed mode does not seem to work: I have an Il-76 at 600 Km/h, an An-30 at 300 and an Helicopter at 100 Km/h, and all of them show up on my radar screen, independently if I have the filter ON or OFF. Does anyone know if it is currently bugged? Thanks for any help you can give me. Rudel_chw Posted February 23 Author Posted February 23 Bump, no one has had this issue before? Here is a draft of the mission I'm editing, where you can see the clouds I'm using: Also, when I place the radar in Low Alt mode, the radar contacts I had at that point vanish, and return when I switch back to just Sidelobe compensation ... my understanding of the manual is that this could happen only with the farthest contact, not all of them. Hopefully another user can tell me what I'm doing wrong, please? Cheers! MiG21bisFishbedL Posted February 24 Posted February 24 I'll have to jump in to a MiG and try later to see what I get. Will post stuff. 1 1 Reformers hate him! This one weird trick found by a bush pilot will make gunfighter obsessed old farts angry at your multi-role carrier deck line up!
PawlaczGMD Posted February 24 Posted February 24 I never saw any cloud radar returns using the Mig-21 (around 2 years). The image you posted must be older... My understanding is that the radar modelling is very basic here. We probably need to wait for a 21 upgrade for such advancements. 2
Joe1978 Posted February 25 Posted February 25 I seem to remember that the low speed filter did work until a few years ago but I can't tell you when it stopped working. I never saw the mess caused by the clouds working. Sorry, Mig 21 is a module that I fly for periods of time and then I stop due to the lack of maintenance it has, so I am not up to date on when the failures occur. 1 .
