This F-100 manual from another sim states:

Quote

Set the SIGHT SELECTOR as desired (default position is 'GUNS'). Set the TARGET SPEED as follows: If your target is another aircraft going about the same speed as you, set it to 'HI'.  If it's considerably slower or stationary, set it to 'LO', if it's somewhere in between, use 'TR'. Default position is 'TR'.

Maybe TR is for "transient"?

The real aircraft manual states:

Quote

The TR. position is used when firing on a drogue or other training targets at low speeds.

That must be it: TR is for training.

Here is a thread from 2016 discussing deflection shooting, where it is mentioned that TR is for  "drogue training at low speed"
