AWa1961 Posted March 6 Posted March 6 What means TR? In every manual (english and german) are only Hi and lo.
Flappie Posted March 7 Posted March 7 Here's the same instrument with the "TR" marking: https://www.recoverycurios.com/f-86-sabre-type-a-4-variable-gun-sight-selector This pages reads "When a high speed attack was made on a slow moving target, the switch would be set to LOW. The switch would be set at HI when the speed of the target was the same as the pursuing aircraft." I'm not sure what "TR" means.. ---
Flappie Posted March 7 Posted March 7 This F-100 manual from another sim states: Quote Set the SIGHT SELECTOR as desired (default position is 'GUNS'). Set the TARGET SPEED as follows: If your target is another aircraft going about the same speed as you, set it to 'HI'. If it's considerably slower or stationary, set it to 'LO', if it's somewhere in between, use 'TR'. Default position is 'TR'. Maybe TR is for "transient"? ---
Solution Flappie Posted March 7 Solution Posted March 7 (edited) The real aircraft manual states: Quote The TR. position is used when firing on a drogue or other training targets at low speeds. That must be it: TR is for training. Edited March 7 by Flappie 1 ---
AdrianL Posted March 7 Posted March 7 Here is a thread from 2016 discussing deflection shooting, where it is mentioned that TR is for "drogue training at low speed" 1
AWa1961 Posted March 9 Author Posted March 9 Thanks to everybody. TR is now "training" for me and i will never use it.
