FriedrichNix Posted 18 hours ago Posted 18 hours ago (edited) NTTR is one of my favorite maps ever. Why? Because it's where Airforce and Navy train... And I. Edited 18 hours ago by FriedrichNix 3
plott1964 Posted 18 hours ago Posted 18 hours ago My issue with this whole thing is that we in community that support ED really have no way of knowing that our requests are even being considered or implemented until ... they are. ED never says. "We hear you. We will be implementing these features by this date." We only here the dreaded "maybe" and "in the future". This community provides a lot of insight and experience not only to ourselves, but to ED as well and we all do it in support of making DCS better. I would just like to see definitive timelines and a better interaction with us in the community. 1 1 PC specs: Intel Core i7-13700K [Raptor Lake 3.4GHz Sixteen-Core LGA 1700] (stock clock)/64.0 GB RAM/RTX 3080 GPU (stock clock)/Windows 10 Home/Multiple M.2 SSD Drives/T.Flight HOTAS X/HP Reverb G2

Maybe you are unaware but we have many teams, more than 50% of our team work on the core of DCS, we have modules teams, and terrain teams. Everyone is working as fast as they can on the tasks they have been given. We do not share timelines until we are close to release. We share our plans and our work shows in our change logs and newsletters. thank you Forum rules - DCS Crashing? plott1964 Posted 18 hours ago Posted 18 hours ago (edited) Yes. of course I'm unaware. Thanks for the input. So, 50% work on DCS core and 50% are split between terrains and modules? ...or am I getting even more confused? As mentioned we have many teams, coders, artists, management, backend, support, community management ect just like any company. We have been creating combat sims for many years, everyone is working where they should be, and the project managers are the ones who decide what work gets done. It may not align with what you want or what I want, but they are the ones with the full picture and the experience to make the right choices to ensure DCS keeps developing. thanks Forum rules - DCS Crashing? TheBiggerBass Posted 18 hours ago Posted 18 hours ago Since there are many knowledgeable users here, I am currently considering whether there might be a way to support the ED team in some way. Perhaps some of the preparation, implementation, or testing work could be taken on by the DCS forum? Hi, best way to support us is to report issues you find in our bugs section with as short as possible track replays with only the units needed to show any problem. We try to get to as many reports as we can, we dont always succeed but feel free to DM me or nineline any time. thank you 1 Forum rules - DCS Crashing? Sunbather Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago I never wanted to buy Persian Gulf or NTTR due to their 'outdated-ness'. Eventually, I caved in and I am glad I purchased both maps. They were cheap (on sale) and the amount of content you get with them (sometimes at additional cost) is very much worth the price of entry, especially as a singleplayer kind of guy. The training campaign for the A-10CII by Baltic Dragon for the NTTR map and the excellent Operation Persian Freedom for the PG map alone made me happy. However... This summer I traveled to Georgia and I was lucky enough to have a good look at it from the air: it was day and there were no clouds. Suffice to say, Georgia in DCS looks nothing like the real thing. Half of the landmass was not green but steppe, there were rolling hills everywhere, the Caucasus mountain range looked intimidating even from afar, and the terrain in general changed every few miles. In DCS Georgia is that flat, ever-green map that looks basically the same from the Black Sea to the eastern end of the Caucasus mountain range. And don't get me started on Tbilisi: even the rudimentary geography is incorrect. So while the PG and NTTR maps are great despite their shortcomings (southern Iran being a vast patch of emptiness...), the Caucasus really needs redoing from the ground up. It should look much more like the mountain areas in Afghanistan for the northern part and much more like a mix of Germany and Iraq for the heartland. Naturally, I jumped right into a digital airplane when I came back from my travels, and seeing the DCS version of Georgia just made me sad. I honestly think a rework should be strongly considered.
