Home to some AAC units before the move to Gutersloh.

3 Regt AAC (653, 662 and 663 Sqns). The regiment was the first to move back to Wattisham, UK in 1993 (and not Gutersloh) following the end of the cold war.

Just need the Westland Lynx Mk7s ....

By the way, Sennelager.... . Small airstrip, but famous for the RAPA and the Do27. Lots of parachute jumps and still active.

Hey Leg2ion sure was a good move back UK but we miss Soest ex 662

Hi @farebro Wattisham was definitely not Soest, and as you say Soest (and Germany) very much missed! The move was 'interesting' - probably the best way of describing things.

Ah well - we got Salamanca (ish) but couldn't see a dam!?  Had a play with the static objects to see if I could recreate the airfield but they're too limited. Found this photo on t'interweb - few Lynx and Gazelles outside. Love the fact you can see the oil slicks left by the Lynx on the dispersal!

Would be great. Lived in Soest in my late teens and remember sitting at the Möhne and watching pretty low level Phantoms coming over the lake and going over the dam. Great sight, and would love to be "on the other side" of that sight, even if only in the sim

Oh man I have not tried it yet will be home tomorrow to take a look, will keep asking Ugra to do the Airfield

Love the phots - they really take me back...! It would be awesome if they could/would - but I fear there are so many similar requests they will be overwhelmed. Guess we just had too many bases in W Germany! Though would hope they would relent for 3 AAC locations (noting Hildesheim is on there already - and could probably get away without Wildenrath). 🍻
