VFXBLENDER Posted March 16 Posted March 16 For the past couple of months I have been experiencing an issue with the Aim-9x on specifically multiplayer servers using the F-16 (in single player missions it works just fine). Even though I did all the steps in order for the missile to successfully engage the target, such as waiting for a good tone, pressing the uncage button, and then firing, it never tracked onto the target. It just flew forward and then into the ground. Does anyone know why I am having this problem and how I should fix it?
Mike Force Team Posted March 16 Posted March 16 When you are selecting a target, you need to tell the missle if the target is small, medium, or large. Because the sidewinder does not know the size of the target, it tends to fly off into the wild blue yonder hitting nothing. When I select the target size, I select small. When you input the target size, hopefully the sidewinder will track to its target provided it is in range. Mike Force Team 1

Mike Force Team Posted March 17 Posted March 17 I apologize for the previous response. I gave you information for the AIM-7 sparrow. Sorry about that. I will look tomorrow and get you an answer. When you are firing the sidewinder, how far away is your target? I am asking if you know how many miles it is to the target. If the distance is greater than five miles, the sidewinder runs out of fuel. When the target is 3 miles or less, you have a better change of hitting your target. Mike Force Team
VFXBLENDER Posted March 17 Author Posted March 17 The target is close enough for a good tone, that's all I know for now. Maybe the problem is that I get a good tone but I don't look at how far away the target is, so that's maybe why it doesn't track. But it doesn't track at all, it just launches off of my wing and goes forward, not even turning towards the target. Also I'm pretty sure that the problem is with the Aim-120 (I forgot what variant). When I get a good lock onto the target and I know that I am well in range it still doesn't track. A couple months back it always worked, for any missile I launched on a multiplayer server. Now it just doesn't. Maybe I'm forgetting to turn on something while cold starting the plane, or turning on additional buttons while hot starting.

The devs/users want players to post a track to see what's going on, while multiplayer tracks are often too large/long. So if you are able to post a small short track in the Caucasus replicating the issue. I'm sure you'll have your answer in no time. Cheers! 1
ED Team BIGNEWY Posted March 19 ED Team Posted March 19 Hi, we are not seeing any issue. VFXBLENDER Posted March 19 Author Posted March 19 I'm pretty sure it works in single player missions just fine, but I'll still make a track. I think that's because I'm in the right range for the missile to track in single player but in multiplayer i'm not patient enough and it doesn't track because I'm too far. Thanks for the suggestion! I'll do it as soon as I can! Just now, BIGNEWY said: Hi, we are not seeing any issue. VFXBLENDER Posted March 21 Author Posted March 21 I'll send the file today at around 5:00-6:00, but I just have one question. Should I send a recording of me showing the bug in multiplayer, where it is a problem, or me recreating the bug in single player, where it is not?
