I've been comparing FOVs, and some pages say they're lower than Quest 3's. I'd like someone who's actually tried or tested them to tell us what their vertical and horizontal FOVs are, since the one Bigscreen provides is the diagonal one, and I can't compare them.

It's going to be hard to compare, given the custom facial gasket. The FOV is going to be even more dependent on your facial features.

Aside from a select few to whom they’ve shipped some preview versions of the headset, I don’t think it’s been shipped out to customers yet. I think I’m supposed to have the one I ordered shipped out in June.

I think the YouTube channel Voodoo DE VR included an FOV comparison in his early preview (included for comparison were his same results in the original BSB along with Q3 and Pimax numbers). Might be worth looking up if you’re curious.

I saw a vid where someone used a FoV test environment and came up with 108 horizontal.

Is there any way to get some of turbo mode working for SteamVR?  The OpenXR toolkit obviously won't work.  This is the best headset I've used for DCS, but I have more microstutters than the Quest because I can't use it.

Why won't the OpenXR toolkit work? You can also use Quad Views (Quad-Views-Foveated) which enables turbo mode by default. Note, you can unselect "Quad Views" in the DCS settings with QVF installed (if you don't want to use quad views, although depending on your specs quad views may give you a performance bump) and turbo mode will still be applied.

Activating turbo mode caused the game to have a constant stutter like it was running at half frames.

Sweet. Little confused about your original question then, not sure what "some" of it means then. Turbo mode in general, whilst works for some people, effects the frametime pacing with the runtime so can cause issues.

Correction on my part, SteamVR is the only runtime this isn't enabled by default, but can be turned on.

I've just received my BSB2e, having come from a Q3.  I'm finding the set-up and configuration tricky.  For example:

  • The headset doesn't easily (I need to restart one or the other a couple of times) connect to the base station
  • I'm struggling to find an optimum in-game settings configuration
  • The in-game performance can be blurred and/or low FPS

I have a 9950x3D and an RTX5090 so there's more than enough power to drive the head-set.

Could anyone please share with me their Steam and DCS System and VR Options?  I'd like to see what you guys are doing.

I recently received my BSB2, and so far, the experience has been pretty rough.

After spending the better part of a week adjusting the base stations (and still not finding an ideal setup), I haven’t been able to get stable tracking. The image constantly jitters and jumps around, making it nearly unusable. I’m currently working with BSB customer support to troubleshoot the issue, but we haven’t found a solution yet.

Coming from the Pimax, aside from the battery swaps I find it to be far more stable and less finicky than the BSB setup. I really want to love the BSB2, and when it works, it’s fantastic, but right now it’s been a frustrating challenge to get it running as smoothly as the Pimax.

Hi there,
I also just received my BSB2e and have absolutly no clue how to set it up for dcs the proper way. I can't find any guides for the BSB2 and i am quite lost at thhe moment as the rare info i find seems to be outdated. Can someone please point me in the right direction? What tools do i need nowadays to get the most out of it and how do i set these up? Right now i just run dcs via steam vr without any additional settings, it runs fine but i guess it does have much more potential.
(My system 12700K/96GB RAM/5090)
Any advice is very much appreciated.

I get EXACTLY the same jitters and jumps which you describe - when I eventually get the headset to talk to the base stations . I do have a ticket raised with customer support but I do not have a response yet. Can you please post here if you find a solution?

I does seem like trial and error with the base station setup. Very frustrating.

I had absolutely no problems with setting up the base stations. I have one at 1 o'clock and one at 8 o'clock about 1 m above my headlevel, they track perfectly fine. However at first plug-in they both wanted a firmware update (which i then let it update), also the BSB2e wanted a firmware update. After those updates everything ran fine with DCS right away. I am looking for additional tweaks with openvr and all that stuff. Right now i just use SteamVR and DCS basically 'naked'.

I'll share my settings as soon as i feel comfortable with them.

Thank you. Interesting. My base stations at 10 o’clock and 2 o’clock which I’m starting to wonder is just too close together.

I‘m not an expert regarding base stations, but I recently bought the 1.0 base stations, because I thought I might want to get the BSB2e. Now I think I will just wait for the SLAM version of the Pimax Dream Air SE.

Anyways, since I did some reading about setting up the base stations before…isn‘t there something like that they also need to be able to see each other? Sounds like this could be difficult, if you put them at 10 and 2 o‘clock. Maybe that was only for the 1.0 types and not the 2.0… Or you could also run a sync cable between them as far as I recall.

But the setup recommendation for the 1.0s was definitely to have them at opposite sides of the room.

My stations are about 4 m apart. The dated v1 stations might also be just harder to setup, in general i would recommend to get the station 2.0 and not the old ones.
