cesarferrolho Posted April 3 Posted April 3 Barometric Altimeter: the left "1000ft" number, should have a "zebra" instead of a zero, i believe. (the same goes for the F-4 aircraft) null 5
Wingmate Posted April 3 Posted April 3 That does not seem to always be the case, and while I do personally prefer the zebra instead of the zero there are several photos of F-14 cockpits without the zebra. The first link is of the cockpit used to model the one we have in game. I did try changing the texture to be the zebra for my own personal use but it and the number left of it share the same texture mapping. https://www.reddit.com/media?url=https%3A%2F%2Fpreview.redd.it%2Fm8dj1fbqnhh61.jpg%3Fwidth%3D2448%26format%3Dpjpg%26auto%3Dwebp%26s%3D8cc994622e42a8ac0b13f79a638b86e1fd96cac8 1
RustBelt Posted April 4 Posted April 4 Except that picture is indicating 99,000 feet (or possibly -100?) It is showing neither a 0 or a Zebra stripe. It’s showing “99” 1

It’s showing “99” Indeed you are correct I thought one of the photos I had posted was showing a zero but upon zooming in a lot it appears to be a nine as well. I am almost certain I had a picture of an F-14 with the first digit showing zero saved somewhere in several gigabytes worth of photos, though it is entirely possible it turned out to be a DCS screenshot on closer examination and I ended up deleting it. I will continue to search for it and post it here if I find it. Quote Have any proof? See above, and just posting more examples of the zebra stripes would not invalidate my claim that it is not always the case, that said see my reply to Rustbelt I may be misremembering.

Also, sometimes, in museums and airplanes that are for exhibition only, there are incorrect instruments or some problems with them, like missing parts or parts from other aircraft. Probably Heatblur scanned an aircraft where the altimeter was a repaired one, but not very accurately repaired. That's my theory... Edited June 13 by cesarferrolho
