Pribs86 Posted April 7 Posted April 7 Hi, I'm not sure if this is the right spot to put this and I know it is going to piss off a ton of multiplayer players, but is there a way to make it so you cannot rearm and refuel ON the runways and taxiways? People get so lazy and block routes to the RWY. If we had designated rearm and refuel areas on the ramp/apron (like in real life) it would cut down on congestion a lot. Thank you in advance! 12
Lace Posted April 7 Posted April 7 Hell yes. Plus EOR arming and disarming. Might be nice if it is incorporated into the new airfield ground crew and ATC work currently underway. 4 Laptop Pilot. draconus Posted April 7 Posted April 7 (edited) I support both R&R areas as well EOR areas. Some additional ground crew service should be implemented to call upon for dead stick/emergency landed aircraft or the ones that lost power on rwy/taxi lines to get them out of the way. Tank50us Posted April 7 Posted April 7 Well, until ED gets around to it, you can simulate it yourself using the objects. Obviously the airfields and carrier will R&R you no matter where you are, BUT... you can place them down anyway and tell people in the mission that's where you go to refuel and rearm. That said, using the above method, you can properly simulate it with aircraft like the Viggin, and you can set it up on the 'non-functioning' airfields as well. For example the Kobuleti X, the major runway on the center of Cyprus, the small run way near the harbor on Guam, and many more.

You could probably also set the airport stock levels for munitions to 0 and put fuel and ammo trucks where you want players to actually refuel/arm. 5
Exorcet Posted April 7 Posted April 7 Interesting idea. Hopefully it would come with updated ATC to help people navigate. As much as better airport operations are desirable, they might also require supporting features to work properly. If players can't find the rearming area, that's a problem. Another consideration here is landing a damaged aircraft. Obviously they still shouldn't be able to repair on the runway, but some kind of emergency response to tow the plane to a designated area might be nice. On the other hand though I'd imagine many players in that situation might just opt to despawn/respawn. 2 Awaiting: DCS F-15C Win 10 i5-9600KF 4.6 GHz 64 GB RAM RTX2080Ti 11GB -- Win 7 64 i5-6600K 3.6 GHz 32 GB RAM GTX970 4GB -- A-10C, F-5E, Su-27, F-15C, F-14B, F-16C missions in User Files

Lace Posted Tuesday at 08:59 AM Posted Tuesday at 08:59 AM I do build nullthem into my own missions, but obviously they are cosmetic only. Laptop Pilot. -=Shin=- Posted Wednesday at 02:24 PM Posted Wednesday at 02:24 PM We built Arming/Dearming Boxes on our own with the variety of statics.....then put trigger zones in it....each of the zones uses an own UHF Freq, so if your Jet is in there, quick switch on the Groundcrew Freq, and listen to some nice authentic Rearming/Dearming Checks Voicefiles from a virtual Crewchief Great for immersion 2 Discord : vFS F-16 VIPER CLUB Squadron
Pribs86 Posted Wednesday at 04:27 PM Author Posted Wednesday at 04:27 PM Those are super neat and look cool, but it would be nice if ED could set it up to where you physically can't rearm and refuel on the RWY or taxiways. Make people, who DGAF about anyone else, get off and out of the way for others who are ready to fly. 1
=475FG= Dawger Posted Wednesday at 06:30 PM Posted Wednesday at 06:30 PM Set the airport warehouse to zero and then drop an invisible FARP with fuel and ammo statics or trucks. 200 meter radius IIRC. 4

Only if you're aware of the distances really, and also only if you can figure out how far 200m is. Most people, if told where to rearm and refuel, will just go to that location anyway. One thing that could also be done to reinforce the idea is have some "communication" with the pilot so that when they enter a specific zone on the base, they get told where to go, and once they get there, get further instructions. It could probably be done just fine with the existing script system... but it would be quite difficult.
