WipeUout Posted October 22 Posted October 22 Yes but that is the MSAA mask slider, which is only working if you use MSAA as your AA method and useless for other method such as DLAA. @Mr_sukebe, I suggest you add MSAA between ''VR'' and ''Mask'' in you first post (VR DCS Settings) to avoid confusion with VR mask that is also an option, but in other settings such as in Pimax play (called ''Hidden Area mask''). Very nice post on settings BTW! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 9800X3D, RTX 4090, 96GB DDR 5, MSI Tomahawk 870E, Crucial 2TB x 2, TM WARTHOG COMBO + PENDULAR RUDDER PEDALS, THE AMAZING PIMAX 8K X, Sony 5.1 Spks+SubW | DCS, A-10C_II, AH-64D, F-14/15E/16/18, F-86F, AV-8B, M-2000C, SA342, Huey, Spitfire, FC3.
The_Nephilim Posted October 30 Posted October 30 (edited) Well I have discovered with my gear in Sig and a Reverb G2 when I set the Global rez to 80% and game app to 80% DCS Runs fine in VR. If I set other then that say 90/80% or even 60/60% I get stutters. I have asked why the G2 seems to do that in my thread but if you get stuttering at 100% Rez in VR try lowering the resolution I guess especially in the G2.. Unknown why the G2 does this but I am near flawless with Spikes and Frametimes at 80/80%.. Depends on your hardware.. if you have newer gear maybe worth an upgrade.. you may or may not experience issues hard to say unless you try it. ChariotOfFLAME Posted October 31 Posted October 31 Thats what people say, but I’ve had tons of success with an aftermarket link cable that also charges the headset myself
Steel Jaw Posted October 31 Posted October 31 (edited) Does VirtualDesktops VDXR have to be purchased? Does it give better performance in DCS than the Quest Link app? You buy VD in the Quest store in your headset, and then install the free Windows streamer app on your PC. 1 hour ago, Steel Jaw said: Does it give better performance in DCS than the Quest Link app? Can do, once I switched I've never looked back. And doesn't have the continual problems that plague a lot of folk with the Meta app. Need a dedicated router beside you for best results, but there are adapters etc. if your Wifi isn't quite up to it. Really feature rich as well and super easy to use. Edited November 1 by sleighzy AMD 7800x3D, 4080Super, 64Gb DDR5 RAM, 4Tb NVMe M.2, Quest 2
Steel Jaw Posted November 1 Posted November 1 I'd read the link cable can be used with VXDR "You see, IronHand is my thing" My specs: W10 Pro, I5/11600K o/c to 4800 @1.32v, 64 GB 3200 XML RAM, Red Dragon 7800XT/16GB, monitor: MSI 321CUP 32" (31.5" Viewable) 4k.

Haven’t done it myself but there is RT-RP (https://github.com/Kuijen/RT-RP) which is a wrapper around Gnirehtet (https://github.com/Genymobile/gnirehtet) for this. It’s listed in the #cool-tools channel on the Virtual Desktop discord. The is also the alternative of using a usb-c to Ethernet adapter so that you can still use a router, but removes wifi from the equation if that part of the networking is an issue. I have a USB to ethernet adapter, and tried using a surplus router dedicated to my Quest 3 - using the standard Meta airlink the image update rate was absolute garbage using the standard 5GHz setting that router was able to provide, I'm told you need a really good router. Is that what you mean by your last sentence? RT-RP looks to be above my IQ level, but I'll have a go.
Steel Jaw Posted 9 hours ago Posted 9 hours ago Well I'm not purchasing a high end router because meta can't get their Sierra together. Maybe time for a different vr headset. ARM505 Posted 9 hours ago Posted 9 hours ago Meta seems to be confused when people want to do what we do with their headset, yes. They are their own worst enemy. Literally every problem I have with the Quest 3 (which is physically a decent headset) is entirely Metas horrific attempts at software. You'd think that 'What part of "plug headset into a PC and transmit images" was hard?' but then you meet their link software which requires a lot of tweaking, and has a separate, legacy UI to the actual headset UI.
ChariotOfFLAME Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago I wonder if anyone has tried creating a different software stack for the Q3. Probably not due to needing to create their own SLAM service and OpenXR implementation

ARM505 Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago Well, that's a few hours of my life I won't get back Through some kind of coincidence, I discovered you can get Virtual Desktop to connect to the Quest 3 via USB cable using the Microsoft Mixed Reality app from the MS Store. It just worked, no problem. No need for routers of any kind, just the cable. Except....it's still actually worse than the Link software using the cable. Maybe I haven't set one of the myriad settings right though, who knows. Just to illustrate the house of cards that DCS is though, after all the experimenting and tweaking was over, I ran it using the usual Link software, as I have been for hundreds of hours....except now DCS refuses to play sound through the Quest, no matter what I do It doesn't help that there are so many 'layers' of control software over the hardware nowdays. Between Windows, Meta, Virtual Desktop.....so many layers and layers of settings and checkboxes, who knows what isn't right where. I'll just leave it for the day. Better things to do than fix stuff that shouldn't be so delicate.
