I'm performing a slow repair now, but it seems that today's update has broken Jester's behaviour.

(Cold start, Caucasus). At the beginning of the procedure, Jester asks me what type of alignment I want (BATH or full).

Then, after the engines have been started, air and power disconnected, both generators set to on, etc., he should ask me if I'm ready for alignment - only he doesn't.

The INS knob is switched to STBY, the system is heated and that's all - Jester doesn't switch the knob to ALIGN.

Did I miss something or it's a new bug? Yesterday, it worked.

Yeah, multiple people reported such an issue.

The team is investigating, sorry for the inconvenience.

In the meantime, it seems if u hop back and align yourself, Jester will eventually roll with it and get his brain unstuck.

The team found the issue and fixed it internally 🙂

It can hopefully soon be distributed via hot-fix. Otherwise the team might also distribute it temporarily as jester-mod (in this case you would just have to drag/drop a single file into your saved games folder - easy). Jester modding came at the right moment, lol 😄

Is there an interim fix where when using autostart, at the time when jester asks for INS alignment I can manually do the alignment and then continue autostart ?

Yes, just hop in the back and do the alignment yourself, then hop back to the front.

@IronMike Mike, is it possible to choose the Jaster alignment mode from the menu? For example, you can choose the mode if there is any problem with the alignment. Thanks!

No. And that wouldnt help in this case as the bug is within Jesters logic. Like, if such an action would be available that action wouldnt work either.

I have problem like that, plane says that INS is ready but on problem panel he says that its not ready

Player made alignment should work. There are a lot of pitfalls with it though, so I suspect one of the many possible user errors that can be made here. Your video for example does not show the Navigation Computer panel.

If you suspect that there might be a bug or need help, please share a track file with us and we can identify the issue 👌

- mainly do the start up normally until you got both engines running and all ext power and air source disconnected

- then press 2 to go in the back seat

- on the right console forward you should see a black knob set to stby with 2 lamps on their right. if the bottom one (red) is on it means the INS is still warming up so wait till it turns off.

- when the red light is off then turn the knob once to the right (right click) to set it to align and start a timer (you can start the back seat chrono if you want).

- optional here you can also turn the radar display to stby (knob bottom left of the radar hood) and the radar to stby (knob under the back seat throttle)

- press 1 to return to the pilot's cockpit and continue your start up proceedure leaving the reference to standby

- press 2 to return to the back seat and wait for the top light by the previous knob to blink green for full alignement or to be steady green for BATH. full alignement should take about 10 minutes.

- when light is blinking green right-click the knob again to switch it to nav. then turn on the RWR by clicking on the power button.

- press 1 to return to your cockpit switch to pri then sync and finish the tasks up to taxi.

Normally Jester will restart its processes and do the rest once you start taxiing.

When can we expect any fix/mod fixing Jester's behaviour?
Lets give ED some time, its just been 2 days, its weekend and easter holiday.

It has been fixed already and is going through the normal test cycle. That takes a few workdays. Im sure we will know more next week :)

It will only be distributed in case there is no hotfix soon.

@IronMike, today there is a patch coming (hot fix) but in the changelog I don't see anything about 'jester mod fix'. Please, is the fix included or do we have to wait? Thanks in advance.

  • IronMike changed the title to [RESOLVED] Jester won't finish INS alignment?
