Flying Toaster Posted April 18 Posted April 18 The DCS F10 map colours urban areas yellow. On the Germany map any areas with fields appear to be classified as urban, and therefore get coloured yellow. This makes navigating using the F10 map very very difficult, as it's hard to determine where towns are and therefore use them as landmarks. See the two screenshots - they are taken at the exact same place, just switching between 'alt' and 'sat' modes. nullnull 11 1
WirtsLegs Posted April 18 Posted April 18 Currently once you zoom into a certain point the map basically fills with orange, the colour usually used to denote cities/towns etc examples: nullnull However a very large amount of that orange area is rural, just fields etc, and it makes quickly assessing the map really difficult, ideally I would suggest these are reduced to cover just the actual towns/cities. The Afghanistan map then has a good solution for these kinda rural areas, introducing another colour in the form of a light yellowy green for areas with the odd building and agriculture but not towns/cities. 2 1
Essah Posted April 18 Posted April 18 +1 to this. It will be easier to navigate and orient ourselves on the map if only actual urban areas are yellow. 1
Razorback Posted April 21 Posted April 21 I totally agree, the F10 map is not easy to use, especially for VFR Fly in Helos. - Nearly no marking names related to vilages. - Powerlines are only visible when you zoom to the max level While these are stop lines that are very useful for navigation. I'd really like the F10 map to look like a real, usable map. The current colours are also very surprising and confusing. Personally, I find this F10 map practically unusable. Flappie created a map for the Caucasus which, in my opinion, is the best map currently available on DCS. It would be great to have an F10 map for CWG that looks like this model. I'd also like to mention that this is practically one of the only negative points of this map, because the rest of the work that's been done is just amazing. The level of detail is very impressive, so a very big thank you for this achievement. 2
