Request for implementing HDR

Hi,

 

Seeing how there are VR headsets that support HDR (High Dynamic Range) now, I'd like to request the feature. It would interesting to hear from the ED if this is viable to implement. I have to personally admit, that once one sees HDR on a proper screen, non-HDR content becomes lifeless in comparison. It would truly be a step toward realism.

This! DCS is like the only game I have anymore without HDR. It looks very outdated and dull by comparison. A big challenge though is everything you see in the game needs to be converted like images on knee boards and such, splash screen images etc. But the result for a combat sim like this where spotting other aircraft is a thing would be a huge boost. That’s part of the problem now, the color gamut is too limited.

Still don't understand why the DSS world doesn't have HDR. In 2025, many people have a good monitor with HDR technology. Special in the nighttime  DCS isn't looking so good if compared for example, with MFS2024 and XP12.

My guess is cause the technology requires a paid liscence, and its not cheap, ED may have decided that currently its not viable.

Dolby Vision requires a license, yes. HDR/HDR10/HDR10+ is completely open-source.
