As i cant use my emails currently due to the one drive being full HELP I'd love to help, but I have never experienced with that aspect of OneDrive .. for me, I opted to just backup the OneDrive folder, where I store all my data worth saving, while the remaining Windows Folders are kept out of OneDrive, like this: If I were in your shoes, I would contact MS Support to get the correct answer to your question. 1 For work: iMac mid-2010 of 27" - Core i7 870 - 6 GB DDR3 1333 MHz - ATI HD5670 - SSD 256 GB - HDD 2 TB - macOS High Sierra For Gaming: 34" Monitor - Ryzen 3600 - 32 GB DDR4 2400 - nVidia RTX2080 - SSD 1.25 TB - HDD 10 TB - Win10 Pro - TM HOTAS Cougar Mobile: iPad Pro 12.9" of 256 GB
EricJ Posted May 13 Posted May 13 OneDrive will automatically back up files that it's set to upload to the cloud. I've had game files and so on sent to OneDrive, but never emails. I'd suggest you delete the stuff, your Outlook will be fine. Homepage | Discord | My Files | YouTube 'Nearly everyone felt the need to express their views on all wars to me, starting with mine. The OP question was: "if I delete my desktop files from the cloud, do they get erased from my PC desktop?" Ghostmaker Posted May 13 Author Posted May 13 I think its had stuff sent to onedrive from 2012 that i didnt even realise, also lots of images and things from steam, i dont generally use steam, it also has skins in tbere from mods on dcs.
Dragon1-1 Posted May 13 Posted May 13 It can cause problems if you back up your documents folder. Some games use "my documents" for storing save data, despite Saved Games existing. Some devs (like the dorks who make Stationeers, for example) use in that way in 2025. It seems Microsoft never explicitly stated "saved games go into saved games folder", so the bad practices continue, and OneDrive has no good way to deal with that situation. 1
Ghostmaker Posted May 14 Author Posted May 14 Is there a way i can free things up? Worst case ill have to change my email address to a new one and then update all my stuff to the new email... pain in the a###
erniedaoage Posted May 15 Posted May 15 You could backup everything that's "suspicious" to you, like folders and stuff you don't really know what they are for on an external drive. Delete everything suspicous and see if you can free up some space. If things start to fall apart you could use the backup from the external drive and put it back to onedrive. The whole user folder structure with saved games and documents and so on is going south the more stuff you install and uninstall. Because not every uninstall gets rid of all the files in the user folder. Thats an idea, when i go into onedrive the desktop folder has the most in there think it was about 90gb, never had an issue with outlook storage until i got the pc dedicated to dcs.
