jdmsweden96 Posted May 14 Posted May 14 (edited) Hi as a swede it is kind of given that I absolutely love the Viggen. But she kind of need some updates, but also I would love to see more misc stuff. For one I would love some training weapons like the training variant of Rb-75, Rb-05 and BK-90 for some examples these where often green or had an green stripe instead of a yellow one, tho I think the last mentioned where just inept but with the same functions while the green painted where more of an completely dead weight. Stairs, wheel chocks, inlet covers/flags stuff like that would be awesome. The same with an actual BRAGG Cart/carts would also be cool. Basically bring her up to F-4 standard with ground eq. Imho sorely needed even if it has to come as an FC3 level module due to lack of documentation. 2 More Cowbell VF-84 Tomcat Skins!
TOViper Posted August 19 Posted August 19 I am saying this since years. Then all the "it must be 1:1 the real aircraft, otherwise DCS world and the whole world itself will crash down - nogo - never argumenters" fall over the forum and Discord in destroying the idea with their infinite wisdom. That really became boring. It is a wonderful idea, and I really would love to fly it. At least FC level, but better of course in a more detailed level. 1 Visit https://www.viggen.training ...Viggen... what more can you ask for? my computer: AMD Ryzen 5600G 4.4 GHz | NVIDIA RTX 3080 10GB | 32 GB 3.2 GHz DDR4 DUAL | SSD 980 256 GB SYS + SSD 2TB DCS | TM Warthog Stick + Throttle + TRP | Rift CV1
doedkoett Posted Friday at 12:44 PM Posted Friday at 12:44 PM The problem is, to make it feel like a real JA 37, not just a grey Viggen 3d-model with a generic cockpit, you will need to use accurate HUD-, radar and TI-symbology, in a correct way. While a lot can be inferred from publicised photos and media, to make it right would probably require access to the user manuals (SFI), which are still, to my knowledge) classified. That precludes the creation of even a FC Viggen. Also, I think a too simplified JA 37 would lose some of the stuff that makes the JA 37 interesting, like the autopilot assisted gun mode.
TOViper Posted Friday at 05:45 PM Posted Friday at 05:45 PM (edited) What I see right now is that FC aircraft like F-15C are still used on the servers which I am currently flying. Radar modes in the FC F-15C e.g. are for sure not as "detailed and correct" as in the real F-15C. So there is already a difference, but people still love to fly the FC F-15C, including my buddies and myself. I am sure there are people available in Sweden to help getting the basic radar modes working in a sort of FC-level JA37, but it seems no one is really willing to dig into. "Also, I think a too simplified JA 37 would lose some of the stuff that makes the JA 37 interesting, like the autopilot assisted gun mode." I think so too, not only because of one certain missing thing, but it could happen during the course of the journey that the information becomes somehow "known". PhantomHans Posted 16 hours ago Posted 16 hours ago I think @doedkoettand @TOViperare both raising good points here. Without enough details, and enough information, the JA-37 could turn into something that's merely a lookalike rather than a good representation, but at the same time, FC level modules are still in use and are still great fun to fly. Having said that, I think the problem I have with the current AJS-37 IS the lack of the JA-37 in any shape or form. Flying missions out of Swedish airbases without fighter escort, or, with USAF F-15Cs or F-14Bs flying alongside as my escort, feels quite unusual and wrong. For the time being, I am using a mod to turn AI AJS-37 into AI JA-37, but it still isn't quite all it could really be. So I'd really like to see any JA-37 in the game, be it AI only or, preferably, at least an FC3 level module. 1 More Cowbell VF-84 Tomcat Skins!
doedkoett Posted 16 hours ago Posted 16 hours ago I agree, the promised AI J 35J Draken would go some way to help create a reasonably realistic Swedish Air Force in DCS. But given the choice I´d prefer an AI JA 37 Viggen over the Draken. Given that the AJS 37 we have is a 1990's aircraft, and by that time the Draken was used only by the F10 wing in Ängelholm in the south of Sweden (where they build the Koenigsegg hypercars today), which is very far from the area of Sweden present in the Kola map. (But on the other hand, not very far from the small part of Sweden included in the GCW-map!) If I get to wish some more, an AI SF 37 photo recce Viggen and an AI SH 37 maritime recce would be cool additions too. (Also, I´d love full modules of either, with working cameras, but lets be slightly more realistic) 1

doedkoett Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago The Heller Viggen - I have built my fair share of those. In fact, one was the first ever model kit I ever had, when I got my dad to buy it for me at an airshow at Saab in 1982. The Heller kit was nice for its day, but is sadly lacking in detail and finesse. The last two Viggens I have built was the Tarangus boxings of a JA and an SF. I was quite happy about how the JA turned out. The SF isn´t finished yet. It has been on the shelf of doom, awaiting weathering, for a few years now.
