Is there any way to store current cockpit view to a certain snap view 0-9 ? I would like to customize snap views 0-9 for my preferred view angles to certain cockpit areas or fixed views out of the cockpit

I found SnapViews.lua under Saved Games/config/view where all views are stored. But setting - checking - readjusting them manually a for several positions in different aircrafts takes way too much time. I am looking for a way to store the current view position to a certain snap view within running DCS.

Use these keys to save your position in the cockpit, do this for each module:

RCTRL + RSHFT + KP4,2,6,8 = Moves your eyepoint L,D,R,U respectively
RCTRL + RSHFT + KP*, KPMinus = Moves your eyepoint fore and aft
RALT + KP0 = Saves your current eyepoint position
KP5 Recenters your view (Bind to a joystick or button box button to make centering simple).

The position for each module is saved in //Saved Games\DCS\Config\View\SnapViews.lua. Make a copy of it and you can restore these after a (re)install.

Use the moving keys also for a particular position that you want to save as a snapview, bind the position to a snapview with these keys:

Num0 + LWin = Snap View 0
Num1  + LWin = Snap View 1
Num2 + LWin = Snap View 2
Num3 + LWin = Snap View 3
Num4 + LWin = Snap View 4
Num5 + LWin = Snap View 5
Num6 + LWin = Snap View 6
Num7 + LWin = Snap View 7
Num8 + LWin = Snap View 8
Num9 + LWin = Snap View 9

Ok, RALT + KP0 = Saves my current eyepoint position but how to determine which snap view position (0-9) to assign the current view to?

May be I have the wrong approach. All I want to achieve is to setup some preconfigured camera positions which I can quickly access by a button click. Like one camera position for left MFD, one for right MFD, one for right console, for left console, for center cockpit view ect.

You first select the snapview key with NumX + LWin, then adjust the view, and finally press RAlt + KP0

And you can use VoiceAttack to call your snapviews, it's very handy.

I'm sorry, but it doesn't work. LWin + Num[0-9] shows the other camera position only as as long as the Num[0-9] key is pressed. After release the camera always returns to normal cockpit camera view.

RCtrl+Num0 : Changes snap views to "toggle" mode. Num1 .. Num9 (with no modifiers) will switch view to the corresponding snap view, and stay there until the user selects a different snap view, or taps Num0.

Thanks. With that information I guess I did't fully understand the view selection concept in DCS yet and need to go back to the basics. Is there any manual or tutorial for the view concept?

not for the whole view concepts, but for snapviews there is this one:

I also found this explanation, which helped me to understand: https://www.airgoons.com/w/DCS_Reference/Snap_Views

I am now able to setup snap views and select them. Learned something today.

Thanks !
